So I have a question about the behavior AI in NWN2. I've installed "Companion & Monster AI 2.2" for the game, and i've gotten Grobnar recently. I LOVE the little guy. However I have 2 questions about his behavior. For some fights, I want him using an instrument, not a weapon. However he'll quickly equip any weapons he has in his inventory every time. Is there any AI setting to stop this? Also, in the same vein, he'll always use the bard's inspiration +regen or +skill, even when i've toggled another one on, he'll switch back. How do I keep him from doing these things, without having him in pupped mode, and micromanage him?
A question of Grobnar's AI.

There's a setting in the behaviour tab to stop specific characters from using mêlée weapons, and another for using ranged weapons, but the simplest way to prevent it would be to not put any weapons in his inventory. Not sure about controlling the inspirations. Maybe it's under "ability use"?

"Infinite abilities" or something like that controls, among other things, the inspirations. When out of combat, the AI switches to regen if someone in the party isn't at full health, or to competence otherwise. When combat starts, he should change to courage or something else that's useful in a fight, though sometimes everyone's already dead by then. If you switch that option off, he won't switch inspirations, but you may have to reapply them after some transitions or when loading a game.
Regarding the instrument, yeah, no easy way to have the AI handle it properly. I guess setting the instrument as the "AI melee weapon" (right click menu) would be the closest to what you want, but that doesn't mean he's gonna switch when you want him to. Personally, I never use instruments.

If he has the two-weapon fighting feat, and is using a weapon that's one-handed for a gnome (like a shortsword or handaxe), then he *may* be able to keep an instrument in his off-hand while also wielding a weapon.
I've played bards that have duel-wielded weapons and instruments at the same time, but never a small race like a halfling or gnome. I've never tried equipping an instrument at the same time as a sling, but I suspect it won't work (even though you can use a shield with a sling).
