The Wraith for some odd reason had a higher than average spread on both weight and damage.  IIRC, there was a 60% weight penalty difference from I to X, which is huge, especially for a gun that was meant for casters.  Also the low damage on low levels gave no reason for it to be used by weapons classes either.

Wraith encumbrance used to go 1.5 -> 0.9, the same as Katana and well in line with other weapons. Then it was changed to 1.2 -> 0.9 which made it unsually useful at low levels.

Same reason everyone answers these threads.

People answer these threads for the same reason people answer these threads? Yep, that's pretty consistent with most of your posts.

The website I was using was using percentages, that's why I said 60% instead of 0.6. That range change was made either after or concurrently with the other buffs. I totally agreed with the narrowing of that range, even though I had it at a high level by the time it was actually done. However, like others, I never used it more than once at low levels, because it's didn't do as designed that early, that is why the gun was unpopular. Unfortunately, BW made popularity as big a factor as if the gun really was OP or not as a big factor in it's nerf or buff decisions.

Wraith was buffed gradually over time, the weight buff was right there in the middle. The damage range between I and X was always the same as it is for every* weapon: I * 1.25 = X

Honestly, I don't remember things being the way you do, and I certainly don't remember there ever been anything out of the ordinary in the way Wraith scaled. Originally it was simply underwhelming. People complained that it wasn't as impressive as an UR shotgun should be. Then it got buffed and bufffed and buffed and buffed and buffed and over time people started to use it more and more. I don't remember weight ever being a significant issue, though after that got buffed, it certainly became even more useful for casters at lower levels.

(*: there may be outliers, I haven't checked literally every weapon)

Speedy GI talon ftw! Not to mention it's a pocket shotgun. Light, does well on all classes, damage bonus against shields, and access to some pretty good mods.

Needs a buff if you ask me.

I just tried this after reading this thread... worked really well with my Talon II. Finally not dying a large amount of time with my GI.

Of course my xbox froze in the middle, but who's counting? -_-

According to the google-weapon sheet the ideal range ends after 800 (cm ??)

And I think that everybody has noticed that.  In my opinion this is the biggest downside of this gun.

However, if accuracy is the reason for that, it could be overcome by using a scope ,right?

And after running a first test - I think I can confirm that.

Strangely the accuracy value is already very high without the scope.

I think this whole "thing" is really strange with the Talon.

Scope if okay, but it's much better to use an accuracy kit like GI, GE, TSol, or Quarksman. Scoping in is tunnel vision and firing 4-7 shots is prolonged tunnel vision, also the recoil is much more noticeable with the scope.

Yes, accuracy (pellet spread) on the Talon is improved with the scope, but only when firing while scoped (I think).  It is also improved by ADS and is improved a lot by firing from hard cover.  In fact, the scoped Talon is pretty underrated, and you can practically snipe with it if you're firing the scoped Talon from hard cover.

Anyway, I really never got into this Talon either. It's a mystery to me.

I, like you, have also never really got into either Talon.  However, I'm not really much of a pistol guy, and it's competing against the Acolyte for my sidearm slot... so it will usually lose.

But yeah, try it on a GI, it will probably be pretty kick @$$.

The devs didn't realize that the reason no one played the wraith is because it leveled terribly, not because it wasn't amazing at level X. In a lot of ways, the Talon was similar.

This.  The only URs I really use are the Harrier and the Hurricane.  But that's just because either of those weapons at lvl I severely outclass all of the comparable rares at lvl X.  Never understood that.

I use the Talon on pretty much every Adept, especially the Human Adept.

Yep, same here. I really like it on casters because it's light and balances a strong weapon attack between cooldowns. And even without a scope you can snipe across the map if you aim carefully
