I like to imagine that whoever made the spawn composition for Demons on Ferelden Castle Zone 3 was cackling maliciously while doing so.

My teeth are clenched just watching that.

Imo they need to nerf them just a bit, as in shorten the time length of their frost beam or lower the damage just a bit.  If one of them locks on to you it is trouble for any non beefy character and if there are multiples it becomes a kill fest.....as evidenced by the above video.

The beam is not the problem, the wallhacking is. If they needed LoS for their knockdown spell, they'd be a lot more managable.

When was the last time you played without hundreds of promotions?

Man one crushing leap or WoH and you'd be on to zone 4.

But yeah the wallhax are cheap. Those didn't all spawn at the same time did they?

If you aggro the drawbridge group then that's how many are in the map at the start. Generally people kill the first 4 but things can go wrong.

The same faces made when planning the whole "We only brought mages and warriors and all the treasure rooms have rogue doors" thing, too? :P

Sometimes it does feel like it's working against you, but I can assure you that each door is completely random and has equal probability in terms of what is chosen.

Despair demon stats and abilities - as they are - aren't the problem. It's that they don't need to have a direct line of sight to use their Ice mine that's the problem.

In the video it shows all the despair demons right up at the front. This is not how they normally spawn and I would like to know how they all got there. Usually there is two prior to the drawbridge up to three. One in front of the Stygian Black hole on the steps, one to the room to the right and sometime one to the room on the left of the steps. Once the drawbridge comes down, there is one to the room on the right side and 3 to 4 in the open are by the dragon gong. Then a couple more spawns to the right or the left sides of the gong area. Depends on how your killing them and clearing it there maybe another that spawn in the rooms by the main steps.

The video shows a situation where everyone basically retreated back to create this en mass scenario. This definitely is not be typical and I have never seen them lined up that way.

I play usually have people focused on taking them out, such as;

Templar with the combo can easily take out a group if close on the far side of drawbridge and usually one or two others on the way. Alchemist/Assasin with skittles/shadowstrike from stealth will take them out, archer longshot, hunter spiketrap from stealth and leaping shot, avvar leaping flame strike (forgot the name), katari with charge and mighty blow, lego with payback strike/shield bash, elementalist with immolate and firewall, keeper with static cage contains them, fade cloak with AW, Virtuoso flame strike, walking bomb, there are so many ways to take them down.

Teamwork and Situational Awareness will always save the day. Underpowered or mixed bag of goodies in PUG may result in unpredictable results...

On the bright side, I can at least say that, however improbable, Cirvante died before me.

Not that it made much difference, but it´s still warm feeling.

Creating en mass scenarios is my specialty.

Double their number, add some stalkers and shadows and you have a potential week-end challenge.

Despairs should need line of sight in my opinion, there's nothing fun about being stunlocked.

When was the last time you played without hundreds of promotions?

I have less than 10 promotions on each class and already start to feel that the game is too easy. Leave these guys the way they are, they are one of the very few enemies that can be challenging for my Katari with Maul of the Dragon and superb HoK ring.

In the particular situation shown in the video, any fire AOE attack would have ended in an easy kill streak. If no elementalist, archer with explosive shot or avvar is available, Antivan fire could do it. If none of the characters has antivan fire and none of those classes are in the team, chances are there is at least one barrier spammer (keeper or virtuoso) or a character with a cold resistance tonic.

Not every enemy that has vicious attacks should be ridded of them. Every character has at least one skill to completely negate, undo or avoid damage. If anything, this video makes the thought of hovering that beautiful upgraded Dispell+ circle over all of them at once, a real feast.

I do not have a lot of promotions, either.

P.S.: Then I realized, like every Keeper in PuGs ever, I sacrifice every interesting and/or supportive skill slot for stuff that does more damage, so I feel better about myself at the end of a failed match. I mapped Static Cage and Chain Lightning, each twice for safety.

Except we need LoS to launch the attack.  In this case as can be seen at the end getting into that position entails being subject to stunlock and being chilled/frozen by multiple DD.

I was downed by a combination of multiple ice beams coupled with ice mine and a rage demon.  A revive was pretty much out of the question.

We had no barrier caster ( I think the random was AW.  We started as three.) but while you make life easier with barrier you shouldn't refuse to play Perilous without one.

DD are among my most despised enemies but I don't feel they should be removed or nerfed beyond the wallhack attack.  Just seven or so all at once is rather much. I think that a maximum of four at once would be enough.

Fair enough, but we can all agree that's a very unusual situation. I also despise the DDs, but I wouldn't nerf them in any possible way. The game is easy enough as it is.
