Question and question about the ME:A Trailer.

See, why the N7 since it's not going to be our Character? (according to BW)

Even then, why does he have companions alongside the N7?

Imagine if they are going to be the next villains now. Who says Villains can't have squadmates?

But seriously, what do you think? Any thoughts on that N7? Why the Squad with him?

They might not be companions per se, just other people helping in a battle. I wonder what a proper anti-Shepard antagonist would be like though, complete with Nega-Liara.

I think he might be related to the MC in some way.

I think he may be the protagonist's mentor character.

Its an easy to identify logo of Mass Effect. That's probably the marketing reason, and for the game who knows? Maybe the N7s are the Spectres? Maybe they're the bad guys? No idea.

I'm hoping he is an irrelevant character. I'd rather move away from N7 since it is so closely associated with Shepard and Earth. I doubt we will see either of them in the next game, but maybe that is the intended purpose of the N7 to remind the player/character of what was and what could be.

Because we needed some direct connection to the orginal trilogy.

Wouldn't a Nega-Liara be an Aria?

Eh, nah. Aria is basically just a powerful biotic thug and gang leader. A Nega-Liara should still be a scientist of some sort, and likely a loner.

My guess? We're the "untested but skilled" second in command, and our boss (Captain N7 dude) gets iced/missing/wounded early on and its up to us to prove ourselves to the crew, have sex with the crew, and SAVE THE GALAXY! Honestly I was really expecting them to push a female protagonist more heavily in the marketing this time in order to set themselves apart from Sheploo and to show off how open-minded and forward thinking Bioware is.

Bioware said when the advertise the protagonist, it'll be with both genders.

@Daisy, personally I hope for a JenkiN7s type of guy.

He'll die because he never got a hang of driving the Mako. Didn't put his seatbelt on or something.

Even better question: Why do Bioware trailers always awkwardly show the protagonist walking towards the camera and hilariously drawing their weapon? Who greenlights these?

The extended trailer shows him walking all the way to the hangar bay to get into the shuttle to land with his gun in the air the entire time.

I was going to answer like this too, but then I read the OP ;)

I'm guessing they just didn't want people thinking they have a fixed protagonist, or he's only going to be male etc. It's probably 'a' protagonist.

Agreed. What is Captain N7 doing whipping out his sidearm on the bridge anyway?

EA's marketing department.

As to the main topic: continuity. N7 is basically synonymous with Mass Effect at this point thanks to marketing and N7 day.

I'm just kidding. I'm just picturing the character brandishing his weapon for no good reason just walking through the ship.

obviously its Legion 2000 years into the future. He bonded Shepard's corpse and more of his armor to his shell because he developed many holes that needed to be filled that only the flesh of man could satiate.

Multiplayer?, the next Nihlus Kryik (and if he is, don't kill him so quick) we're not going to be the villains, mass effect is a story of solving great mysteries, meeting wonderful or evil characters to hate and love, to see our decisions go from one game to another (please, the people who doesn't like the ending refrain yourself to reply to this comment), to take choices of live and dead (like Kaida/Ashley, Wrex, Rachni).

Based on an image tweeted by BW earlier from a motion capture session, I think it is likely our antagonist will not be human. Compare the number of articulation points on the character doing the holding versus the character being held upside down. It seems as though the protagonist will be held upside down at some point by his/her main antagonist.

I like how motion capture guy makes evil face to immerse into role.  :)

But I guess it's not much of surprise, we wouldn't to get all the way to Andromeda to fight humans.
