I see this all the time from people, but I don't think they've played any MMOs.  The only comparisons between Inquisition and MMOs is that they're both RPGs.  Inquisition has no more of a MMO approach than any other RPG does.

I always wondered about that. I keep wanting to ask people with MMO experience how true that line about DAI is, but there are so damn few of them here.

MMO's tend to have a lot shallow side quests that don't effect the world state and a lot of respawning.

All 3 games were absolutely amazing until the end. It felt rushed and sloppy at that very moment. I don't blame BioWare, I blame EA for rushing them.

I feel like this is the start of something quite amazing. Start over fresh in a veteran series and build it from the ground up. No worries, no cares, just something that you're proud to call your baby. Sure, the ending of 3 was deeply insulting, but the entire game, despite some oddities, was amazing beyond reason. Honestly I can't wait to see what they do with ME:A and what they've been doing with it since then. But most importantly, I really hope the person who has been working on the PC hair and beards in DA:I goes nowhere near this.

I think it's safe to assume this wont happen. Mass Effect has always been a much more cinematic series than dragon age. Don't think they will take that away from ME. At least I hope...

Two things that might be working in Mass Effect's favor in that regard are that it has already been confirmed that we are only playing as a human protagonist, and I'm sure by now Bioware has heard much of the (mostly negative) feedback on the lack of cinematic conversations in DA:I. Interaction with NPCs in DA:I have been one of the more frequently criticized portions of that game.

Both should  hopefully mean that ME:A won't have the same problems.

gods I hope you're right. I really didn't like how static speaking with people is. And it'll be a cold day in hell when I'm pleased to see that f***ing stance ever again.

I'm thinking, Bioware just made an ending a lot of people didn't like. It happens.

Despite all the outrage, they didn't change it or give into what the fans wanted in order to satisfy every last one of them. They threw them a bone (extended ending), but that's it.

To be fair though, The Old Republic is very unconventional when it comes to being an MMO, at least from my own experiences. Some of the design choices are similar to what we see on the Bartle scale, but are heavily skewed to single player, which I personally like of course.

That said, most RPGs fit on the Bartle Scale anyway.

SWTOR is awesome and I hope that the next xpac is as epic as the trailer.

I've dabbled in a fair amount of F2P MMOs and I think it's a fair comparison as far as the world/quest structure goes. In particular it reminds me of GW2, but it's quite similar to SW:tOR and Neverwinter and many of the others I've dabbled with.

Large areas full of rather shallow quests. As distinct from, say, Skyrim's open world with lots and lots of dungeons. Though, honestly, it's doing a bit of disservice to MMOs. SW:tOR's sidequests are a fair bit better. GW2's sidequests can be more diverse, and they can make use of the MMO nature of the game to make things less static.

It's also got some MMO derived mechanics and conventions, though most of them were in the series from the start like cooldowns and threat mechanics. Getting rid of healers is arguably pretty un-MMOlike. The item system is pretty similar to MMOs, but it's also similar to a ton of non-MMOs.

To me, the first two ME games were flawless in terms of story and scripts. Even the third game was going great right up until the point where Shepard landed back on Earth for the final battle. It was only the last mission and the ending that felt poorly written and empty - the rest was all good.

The Multiplayer aspect of ME3 was fun up until the point where I unlocked everything and didn't feel there was a point in playing horde mode anymore. I'm hoping ME:A will have more co-op mode rather than horde mode as well as a fantastic single player.

I dislike the entire "singleplayer MMO" thing these forums have, but as someone who has had games of the genre as constants in his life for the last 12'ish years, Inquisition's quests follow a pattern you'll recognise in most MMOs you can find.

BioWare's The Old Republic has much better side content, by the way.

SWTOR now compared to SWTOR when it first launched/first year is much better and improved.  A quality MMO now!  Just wish the F2P wasn't as... restrictive lol.
