I have a few things to say. First, did you even play PC games before the last two generations of consoles? Because a stable PC release is a mystical recent invention. I grew up in the days of boot disks. I remember the hoops I had to jump through to get Wing Commander to work, and that's just how it was back then.

Second, DA:I was stable. Some people had crashes. I've had more with TW3 than I've ever had with DA:I. You can't use individual issues with the game as indicative of a lack of stability. Overall, the game isn't broken.

WB released an actually unplayable game. DA:I released a game that didn't work well for some people, especially with older hardware. That's a huge, huge gap. It hurts gamers to even pretend the two are the same.

...what does DA:I have to do with this? The guys who were in charge of BAK's development really screwed the pooch by not properly staffing their pc port team. Thats a fact. you gotta give credit where credit is due.

In Exile is responding to the OP who is trying to say that the situation between Arkham Knight and BioWare (with DA:I) are equivalent/comparable.

oh, pfft. Arkham Knight for the PC is obviously the worst out of the two. Its probably the worst PC launch since Windows 95.

Is it worse than JRPGs PC ports before 2013?

The underlying question that is begging to be asked: Why do we, as paying customers, keep putting up with this??

So they should make ports so bad that they have to pull their game from steam? Cool.

Because people are constantly pre-ordering video games and never learn their lesson that nowadays you literaly can't trust anyone in gaming industry, stuff like Arkham Knight is happening more and more.

I'm utterly offended and triggered

I was a 90s kid.

I've been a PC gamer, I didn't know anything about DreamCast or PlayStation.

And PC games were perfect in 90s because no crash.

I just wondering could PC version owner still refund this crap since Warner suspended its sale? 9 out 10 my friends has refunded it already.

Exactly, this has absolutely nothing to do with Warner Brothers realizing that they fucked up, but it has everything to do with the fact that they're now losing money because Steam (finally) allows refunds. If anything you should be thanking Steam NOT Warner Brothers.

.

Thank the EU for refunds. If it weren't for them breathing down Valve's neck then we still wouldnt have had refunds.

Prepare yourself for 20 years of more uselessness, before they do something good again.

Because a lot of money is spent on marketing (both traditional and viral) in order to condition the target audience into accepting and upholding brand loyalty. It's not an issue with gaming specifically but it's particularly nauseating in gaming because gamers are extremely susceptible to brand loyalty. Just look at how prevalent console wars are on the internet. It's to a point where I only frequent gaming forums that regard platform wars as the cancer it is.

"People are dumb" could also work as an answer though.

I play games on whatever platform I feel like playing it on some types of games are inherently superior to play on for PC and the same goes for consoles. (I mean control wise) anything that results in me using the keyboard to move will quickly either get a controller (if possible) or I'll get a console version. Mainly because I prefer not get sore hands after 30 minutes of play.

People who believe one console is God are fools. Everyone has their own preferences to platforms. So they need to get their heads out of their platform's CD drive...

Well that and (in my opinion unethical) psychologists that work in marketing.

As for brand loyalty it's a version of group mechanics. Humans have an affinity for being in groups. They'll even start feeling superior to people that are not in "their group" even when the group is completely meaningless.

And in the middle of that thought this comment gave me an idea. I'll need to tinker with it, but still thanks Crusty.

Exactly.

This is especially true when you're using a PC and both of your graphics cards decide to fizzle at the exact same time causing you to have to use integrated graphics from Intel in able to actually boot the damn thing up....

Instead of releasing a buggy unfinished product and apologizing for it, why not go the Blizzard route and have a lengthy open beta before release? So outside of connection issues (looking at you Diablo 3) the game will be bug free?

Look, I've spent a significant amount of my time on the BSN either explaining in detail, or making fun of, the many foibles and mistakes of BioWare. But this comparison is just a bridge too far.

Foibles is a great word, BTW.

Blizzard's got tonnes of money to support something like that. They got WoW and Hearthstone to keep projects in the oven for longer.

So they canceled all sales of the game on PC, huh? What happens if they decide to lock out players from their games in order to "fix" the non-refunded ones? I only ask because this could be the DRM scenario that people keep talking about, about not being able to play their games when a studio decides they can't.
