We are moving on from the MWG...  Time to embrace change.  Maybe one day we'll revisit the MWG.  Perhaps during ME:A. But now? No.

I thought that was evident.

Wow now this is quite the revelation.

Edit: The images on that site are actually rather cool.

Yeah, apparently there's not enough space in the Milky Way for a new mass effect! lol.

Whats so funny about this? The three games covered a vast expanse of The Milky Way and the ending to the trilogy left vast changes to it that would be a nightmare to work around for a future game. Andromeda remains untouched and they'll have all the freedom in the world to create things with it while not being hampered by what the original trilogy set up.

What? They had explored less than 1% of the Milky Way galaxy with the relay network (although realistically the network probably doesn't cover a significant fraction of the galaxy, I've tried to demonstrate this a few times). And in-game, we had explored something like, oh, 0.0000000001%, to ballpark. There are still over 200 billion stars in the galaxy left to explore off the relay network...

That said, unlike others here I strongly, strongly suspect that in the Mass Effect universe, habitable worlds were supposed to be quite rare, statistically. The relay network was constructed to link all currently habitable worlds, worlds that were once habitable, worlds that will be habitable in billions of years, and supporting systems for resource infrastructure. Most systems off the network are probably dead and lifeless. It MUST be this way, because the network does not cover 100% of the Milky Way (this can be demonstrated by the codex) and there are vast swaths of space between primary relays. So, in order for the harvest to actually work, the Reapers would have to ensure that zero civilizations developed off the relay network. Thus, the network probably links all potentially habitable and habitable worlds in the galaxy.

Therefore, I have been less in the "there is still 99% of the Milky Way left to explore!" camp, and more in the "lets go somewhere completely new and start from scratch without a network" camp. I am pleased with the Andromeda choice, if Bioware makes the lore work. Hopefully they realize that in the mass effect lore, you shouldn't run into an inhabitable world every few star systems, and the relay network made it subjectively seem as if they were more common than they really are.

Rather than a single star cluster, I really, REALLY hope that they realize this, and they create something akin to an alien relay network (perhaps created by the Remnant), which links a handful of star clusters. Each star cluster could be expansive, and a very small part of the Andromeda network. This would allow more lore consistency.

Of course it doesn't cover all the stars in the Milky Way, that'd be 200-400 billion stars. That'd be impossible. But the relay network extended all over The Milky Way from one end to the other, meaning those endings affected A TON.

Again, Andromeda remains untouched. Its a clean slate. There is no issue with this.

There isn't. RBG wrecked it for everyone.
