I'd say Krogan Warlord off the top of my head but that seems, I dunno, obvious?

But I wouldn't classify it as the best. Maybe the most enjoyable for myself but it's not stunningly efficient.
Tried GI Melee but never quite got the hang of it. Didn't get the feel for timing the pulses.
There are a lot of options, your take? Why?
Melee GI. Goes down in a heartbeat, but can destroy more enemies at once. Timing the pulses is easy. You have to listen to that sound cue from the heavy melee in order to spam it in succession.
Collector using the around-corner telekinetic punch only.
Worlard ! His melee damage is monstruous, and he can takes a lot of damage. Quite a sync-kill magnet, but experience with the kit helps with that (and Tech Armor, ramps, ops packs, missiles, Venom...).

I honestly thought I was like 50k ahead the whole time, so I didn't even bother to check during the game. It surprised me that you ended up with like 10k ahead, I have to say, I'm impressed.

Aka Batarian melee. You can't beat slapping some poor nemesis about the face with a shotgun, or with the heavy melee wubwubwub, punching a trooper in the nuts and watching his head explode.
But splatting minions with a giant hammer is also good....as is binking someone off a map with a shield; those Guardians are missing a trick there.
Best melee I ever got though (and I know I've said it before) was:

Melee GI might be the most devastating.
Human Adept is amazing.
Volus Nutguard for giggles.
Volus Bubble melee, followed by Volus Batarian gauntlet nutcracker-headexploder.
Vanilla Krentinel (Graal + Omniblade) ... doesn't have the glitchy lock-on problems that plague the Worlard.

That's the same setup I use. Sometimes I'll switch the Graal out for the Venom, but I generally stick to the Graal.
Vorcha Hunter Engineer. It's fast and strong, and Bloodless stacks improve movement speed & melee damage, making it even more devastating.
HMA - HeroicMass Melee Adept, vanilla human melee build is also goofy fun and pretty strong, but I like the Vorcha one.

Well judging by the pic clarity, it appears you must have been experiencing an earthquake at the time. So kudos for yr perseverance.

Yes, glorious yes.
But I love the Drell melee too...it's a toss up.
Vorcha melee has that visceral appeal; Drell melee has that quick, slick, & snappy style.
SmashBro CC rhythmic gymnastics move is another high ranking melee move for me.
Fat Turian "safe" call at second base is kinda cool. I just never boost it because Fat Turian No Dodge.
Sadly, if you mean best as in more efficient, nothing tops a GI. Again 
If you mean most fun, well... Personally, I love to shield bash with a Paladin, yeah. I also love to Volus Melee Bubble
Other than that, I like Drell melee (obviously), but not much else.
