GI is most efficient if you don't die.
KroSent is one of the easiest to get a lot of melee kills and not get synced.
Human Adept is one of the more fun builds.
Valkyrie since I was one of the only ones stupid enough to completely forgo BEs at first and see what kind of melee kit she would be.
KroGuard is my personal favorite 
Charge -> Heavy Melee -> Heavy Melee -> Charge again to refill barrier. Rinse, repeat. I usually run mine like this: http://kalence.drupa...3956364!G3FBD5
Since he does have a good chance of getting sync killed, especially on gold and plat, that's where the carnage and shotgun come in handy. You can back just a bit and take 'em down, then go back to bashing the lower enemies.
I find with most other melee kits, it either takes too long to get to an enemy to melee it (and a teammate kills it) or by the time I've gotten there I've taken way too much damage to stand in their face bashing them.

Try the Bonus Power on Charge. It's extremely fun to charge 5-6 times in row with a Kroguard 
I tried the QMR build yesterday and totally got owned because;
1 - Glacier Hazard (Bees!)
2 - my decoy pugs had trouble staying on their feet, making my agro dumping skills obsolete
3 - swarmers
4 - double banshees
5 - my FQE isn't immune to brute butt wiffs (it burns and staggers)
Mission Status; Wave 7 Failure (was going to give up on wave 5, but though I could at least solo the pugs to wave 6 pay day)
Anyway, lots of work to learn this kit due to squishyness and me being a magnet to the poorest pug lobbies in the galaxy (yes, I play with some pugs from Andromeda galaxy too). Lucky thing for learning CPU. Only thing I have against this build is the Arc Pistol since I like to use the same finger for charging and Sabotage.

Best overall pure melee--Krolord and Batguard (Krentinal--honorable mention). Most fun to melee with--Shadow and Cabal.
Krogan are fun, I do like the Shadow since she can hit multiple targets if they're standing close. AIU is also fun and I find the Geth Scanner + Cabal teleport through walls melee combination amusing.
One nice thing about the Krogan heavy melee that I miss on other kits sometimes, is the closing ground charge. That's also seems pretty quite. Sometimes other heavy melee kits seem to have too much delay and not enough travel distance. I think this is one main reason why Krogan melee are always so popular.
