So I was pretty content with the idea of being a Dwarf Noble warrior but then after thinking about it I realised that i'll probably have shale. I want shale.. and I like diversity. You think it would be a better idea to go rogue?

Noble Warrior is generally more expected, yet at the same time there's so much theoretical political backstabbing you'll get a lot of mileage out of the rogue's skills.

Either works, not to mention you'll likely be totally fine with two warriors.

Go dwarf warrior, then Templar spec. Any caster will cry at the mere sight of your anti magic awesome. But ultimately its up to you. I made a dwarf commoner rogue, but that seems to be expected from the casteless.

If u want to dual wield, go commoner. If u want to go sword and board, go noble. If u want to go bow or 2h, choose whicher you please.

I kind of wonder, can Dwarves be Templars? I was under the impression that Templars are devoted if not zealots of the Chantry, and AFAIK from the lore Dwarves don't follow the Chantry. Anyone know anything differently?

I can't imagine they limit you number of specializations. Also, you do not need to be a Templar to take the Templar specialization class. It just somehow be learned, be it a mentor or a book perhaps or some story event.

Dwarves can be Templars, even from the lore perspective. Ignoring this, though, it would still be irrelevant; specializing as a Templar does not involve joining the Order and following the Chantry.

My dwarf noble playthrough, I'm playing as a warrior. To me, it suits the origin/my character better.

My Dwarf Noble playthrough will be a rogue.

My Dwarf Commoner playthrough will be a warrior.

Dwarf commoner warrior starts with dual-wield instead of sword and shield, which can prove useful if you plan on dual-wielding.

I'm gonna roll with a dwarf noble rogue (ranger spec). Seems original enough :)

I'm playing dwarven commoner rogue right now, and I can tell you straight up that it suits the origin very very well. Better than a warrior would.

I did noble warrior as my first character and I'm really tired of warriors. I'm using shields, but so is Alistair and he is pretty much a copy of me. Then there is Sten, 2h warrior, but still a warrior. Just not too excited about them anymore. I have not specialized yet however.

Why would't they be able to? Dwarven society as a whole doesn't follow the chantry, no, but that doesn't mean individual dwarves can't.

If dwarves are cut off from the fade, like tranquil, no magical OR antimagical abilitis peoples...game glitch ftw

I'm a Commoner Dwarf Rogue and doing very nicely up to Level 7, thank you very much. Sten gives me some lip about being a dwarf, but I soon show him how to win a battle in Stealth mode.

I agree that dwarves shouldn't be able to get quasi-magical abilities like Templars have. But if you agree with this, just don't go Templar. If you disagree, it's your game, so play how you like.

I played a dwarf noble rogue and I thought it worked just fine. You can conceive of how the character learned such skills in different ways -- note that the military command you're given in the origin story is fairly well-suited for stealthiness, so maybe the character is trained as a scout/infiltrator. Or maybe she just needed to learn Stealth so she could sneak out of the palace and get busy with Gorim...

Shale has so many unique abilities that it's worth having another Warrior.

Yeah, you can in the game even though it doesn't make sense. Similar to making Wynne a Bloodmage spec, even though her character is completely against them.

Dwarves are resistant to magic though, not completely immune. And templars aren't mages yet they can use faux magic. It isn't completely against lore that they wouldn't be able to learn the templar skills without a lot of training, it just isn't supported by that lore. It's all about personal opinions of what we currently have to work with.

I play Dwarf Noble Rogue... To be honest I never heared anyone complain to me ingame about me needing to be Warror except for Gorim wanting to force a shield on me in the very beginning. I simply ignore him and go my own way.
Another problem is that I prefer dual wield so to be honest rogue is the best for that.
