Actually, I was looking for something else, when I noticed something on the two Lavellan Tarot Cards in the DA Wikia.
They both show animals (a wolf for a non-mage Lavellan and a hart for a mage Lavellan) with Vallaslin.

Hunter Card

And somehow I started to wonder, which Vallaslin those are meant to represent.

First I thought of Andruil for the wolf, her being the Goddes of Hunt and all, but her Vallaslins don't match the pattern the wolf has.

Spoiler

I found one, that looks closer to the one the wolf has. June's. Not perfect, but closer. Which would make sense, for him teaching the elves how to make bows and arrows.

But the hart has me confused. It doesn't look like the pattern of Ghilan'nain, the mother of Halla,

Spoiler

but more like the pattern of Elgar'nan, the All-Father.

Spoiler

If I think about it, they (wolf and hart) could also have the same pattern, just seen from a different viewpoint.

But still, whose Vallaslin is it meant to be? If it's even meant to be a specific Vallaslin. Maybe I'm also reading too much into it. I was on the search for a specific tarot card when I stumbled over this.

True.

That's the same, that Marethari wears in DAO.

Sadly her Vallaslin changes in DA2 to this one.

but it's still pretty close.

Reminds me of Falon'Din...

I concur with June for the wolf and Falon'din for the hart.

I hadn't noticed before, but now that I see the images close up and compare to the vallaslin chart, I can pretty clearly see those 2 designs on the faces. Pretty cool.

Interesting Falon'Din's sacred animal is supposed to be an owl, though. But there is a codex mention about him guiding an injured deer to the afterlife beyond the veil.

Aslo kind of interesting how the wolf has arrows sticking in it, and the stag also looks like it has a target/bullseye with arrows pointing at it. So is this suit of arrows then? Or wands or swords? I forget.

Is it meant to show any particular vallaslin?    In a way both animals are far more appropriate to a hunter.  However, it would seem that the Halla Keeper in the clan is often a mage so in that case the likely vallaslin would be Ghilan'ain and as you say it doesn't really look anything like her vallaslin.  In any case, if it was meant to be a Halla, then it would be white.   That is just an ordinary deer.   If you ignore the markings actually on the wolf but use the sign above and turn it up the other way then it is more close to Andruil.    So may be the markings on the animals are not meant to be significant or have some relevance that has yet to be revealed.

I'm pretty certain that I got a hart card for my rogue (with June's Vallaslin)

(maybe it's because I'm on PS3)

Yeah, the arrows sticking out of the wolf made me think of Fen'Harel, but I don't think he had a Vallaslin. (I haven't played my Solas LI PT yet, but from what I've heard, I doubt it.)

I don't know, which is why I made this thread, so people could wonder & speculate with me.  ;)

I saw the bow & arrow above the wolf and thought the same at first, but then I thought /Maybe Andruil hunted the wolf and the Vallaslin stands for someone else?/

Weird.  (maybe? I have a PS3, but no DAI on it)

If, as Solas says, vallaslin were slave markings and Fen'Harel was really a rebel god wanting freedom for slaves (like Solas ) then it would make sense that he has no vallaslin associated with him.    However, in Masked Empire Felassan, who clearly had some connection with Fen'Harel, was said to have vallaslin, though we are never told whose.

We are also told that in the old Dales each elf warrior had a wolf who was his faithful companion.   So wolves were clearly valued by the elves in the past and they were seen as much as friends as the Halla.     So it seems odd to have a card with a wolf full of arrows.     What card do you get if you are a warrior as opposed to a rogue?

I haven't read The Masked Empire yet, (I ordered the book, but it hasn't arrived yet) so I can't comment on that yet.

Yeah, they were seen as their brothers. Maybe they didn't look at them as brothers anymore after Fen'Harel's betrayal?

Elf: As a warrior or rogue, the elven Inquisitor is a Dalish Hunter. If a mage, they are First to the Lavellan clan's Keeper.

So it doesn't matter if warrior or rogue, they would get the Hunter (wolf) card.

Fen'Harel's betrayal was in ancient times though, whilst the story of the wolf guardians was connected with the Dales, so more recent and thus with closer links to Dalish lore.   Besides which they still make offerings to shrines for Fen'Harel, if nothing else to appease him.   After all according to their lore he is the only elven god still out there and active in the world.   Statues of Fen'Harel are kept facing out in camp to ward off evil spirits.   So I don't think the wolf in the tarot has any connection with Fen'Harel.   May be the arrows are symbolic of what the humans did to the Emerald Knights, who sacrificed themselves in defence of the Dales (and Andruil is both goddess of the hunt and of sacrifice).

It looks like both animals are being hunted, the wolf is snarling at an attacker while the hart has just noticed the threat.

Neither vallaslin seem to fit, June is the crafter and Falon'din looks after the dead. I could understand Andruil for the hunter and Dirthamen keeper of secrets and knowledge for a mage but perhaps it's not supposed to look like any particular vallaslin it's just a artist shorthand for the animal representing the elven pc.

checked - I was looking in the character section of the codex and that always uses the Hart card for a Lavellan regardless of class

The wolf card appears for warriors and rogues during creation (it's a long time since I created the character) or when changing characters (The PS3 has so few save slots that I have only 1 character)
