Is Adaar (vashoth mercenary) the leader of a merc group or just a high ranking member?

It's conflicting. When talking to Josie early on, you talk about a captain who actually praised your behind your back when he was always being an ass when face-to-face with you. Yet later on Bull asks that since you "had a company of your own, how did you put yours together?". So... Wait, what? I have a captain that I'm subordinate to in one scene, now I'm apparently the head of a mercenary group I put together myself to the point of even being the one in charge of who's in it? This seems either like Bioware forgot their own backstory for the Adaar, or their backstory is more complex than I thought. This makes roleplaying difficult too, I don't even know if I was simply in a group like Krem is where I was just the second in command, or if I was the leader. Also, where does Shokrakar fit into this? Most people, and even the wiki, thinks she's the leader of the group you're part of. But there's no evidence, and if you was the one actually leading it like the bull conversation says... Then wouldn't she be your second in command?

This is a mess, I can't even figure out what position my own character had since there is info that blatantly contradicts itself in the game.

It's been awhile since I played that part with my Adaar, but my impression was that the Iron Bull was asking how the mercenary company came to be. "What kind of people did you work with and how did they get there?" rather than, "What kind of Shepard were you, where did you find your crew?"

I think the captain in the letters is the one in charge. Shokrakar is probably a high-ranking member. I doubt Adaar was in charge, the captain seemed quite bossy. :P

Part of the ambiguity is probably Bioware wanting to give you room to headcanon it and determine it off of your conversations.

What I put in quotes was an exact quote, no interpretation on my part.

"you had a company of your own, how did you put yours together?"

5:34

That doesn't tell me "You were in a company yourself, how did the group you were apart of put itself together".

And your responses were not in third person, you talked like YOU were the one who decided who was hired.

"Like you, more or less. I took in anyone who could take care of themselves and follow orders."

(emphasis mine)

That doesn't sound like you didn't lead it.

Maybe Adaar was in charge of recruitment? Just thinking out loud.

Either that, or Bull just does not know Adaar was not in charge.

Your character would have corrected him. But instead of doing that, they were just "yeah I put my group together like this-". This is seeming more and more like another script mistake.

Or they decided to play along, just to have fun. We do not know anything.

Plus, Bull is a Mercenary, likely he would not know the truth, nor would be able to know.

If it makes you feel better, all of these backstories suck. :)

Perhaps Adaar & Shokrakar share the Command of the Company hence Shokrakar offering to send Their Contract Expert would make sense.

Does it say that the captain who praised you is still the captain? Perhaps that was a little earlier in Adaar's career, and they've since worked their way to the top (maybe the captain even died and they took over). Or the mercencary company was so large that Adaar led their own team within it.

No, that captain is alive. Josie actually talked to them to help research your background, and brought up to Adaar that they highly praised you.

Does it tell you WHEN the mission happened. Could be that was just the most fond memory the captain had.

Really, I do not know what to say, other than that it does not really matter in the end.

What mission? Josie got in contact with people to figure out your history and background via references from people who knew you. That captain was one. Well, she says "found" a letter from the captain... So it's unclear.

The mission she is talking about, the one the captain praised you for mainly. did you not pay attention to it.

It sounded like it was multiple campaigns, not just one mission, if that's what you meant.

IT literally said LAST ENGAGEMENT, which sounds incredibly specific to me. Not series. I do not know what the world you are seeing.

You don't? Let me help.

"He said he would have lost entire battles without you."

Battles. As in plural. As in multiple battles, as in multiple missions.

But she is asking about your role in ONE, not a general term. Go and watch that part about Tully again, where she says LAST ENGAGEMENT. 1:59 literally says LAST. sounds like to me like they were talking about a specific one. Multiple battles does not mean she was in the same job for all of them.

Ugh, this argument is pointless and doesn't even have anything to do with anything. Seriously, why are we arguing?

Because you seem to overgeneralize. Judging by the options, it is clear that they were talking about a specific job. One of the options leads the character to say they blew up a bridge, not blew up bridges.

I mean, what does this have to do with the overall topic about whether Adaar is a leader or a follower? Because I fail to see what.

Honestly, the details are so vague, we could come up with anything. We do not know who Sakrokar (or whatever his name/title) is, if he is a leader or high-ranking member, or anything. Likely because it is not important.

Because the option states last, and that could mean that it was the last one with that commander. Adaar could have created their own company by the time of the conclave.

Plus, that "he underpaid me!" option? I took it and Adaar says that they got their pay cut when they LEFT.

Okay, maybe you did. That still leaves the question of who the other "leader" is, though dual leadership like I read several posts ago is a possibility.

and as I said in the edit (ninja edit for the win), we have no details. Could be the company that Adaar works with is the one Adaar set up/helped set up.

I imagine that it is a dual leadership because its pretty apparent that your vital to the company because if your just some lackey why would Shokrakar keep contacting you complaining about Adaar not being paid yet or finding them work.

High ranking member.

Shokrakar is the leader, as you know.
