Thats common in fiction.
Just see Batman, Thalia and Damian.

I'm going to assume you are talking about the mainstream DCU here and not a spin-off or an Elseworlds story. Also before the New 52, I haven't followed the New 52 since it launched because it was f*****g horrible when it launched and I don't trust DC's writers to recover it.

Yeah, Talia also drugged Batman and effectively date raped him (which is weird, because men can't get raped). Quite a bit different than a hypothetical marriage between the parents in question where the parents have a stable relationship, like has been mentioned here.

Where?

Is this only about how marriages are supposed to produce offspring?

First, that is a cultural phenomenon unrelated to Andrastian beliefs and then, not only is that expected even from Empress Celene, Moira Theirin had Maric but was still the one who lead the rebellion in Ferelden.

The logic is simple, the chantry (which prevails throughout Southern Thedian culture) has an outlook that can be considered conservative in nature, Cassandra faithfully adheres to the chantry therefore she has its conservative values. Going by experience, I would assume that Cassandra understands these roles and values, she once said that if her life in Nevarra had have been different  her Uncle might have had her married off to some noble, and she might have had three children, and would have ended up sitting around at home all day. I would call that traditional/conservative.

Again, I think you're bringing your own baggage. The Chantry is a mockup of various traditional Christian ideas, but not a direct counterpart.

Women are just completely different in it.... down to the very first conception in Gaider's mind. I think his words were "What if Christianity had been founded by Joan of Arc instead of Jesus". It's already a radical departure from the getgo.

Batman has a kid?

In one DC universe he marries Catwoman and they have a daughter Helena, in another DC universe he was raped by Talia Al Ghul, hence "Son of the Demon"

You are going off topic and making a strawman, either respond to my example or don't respond at all.

That's right.. forgot about that. And Helena is another version of the Huntress.

How so? I'm getting at the very foundation of your thinking - that women necessarily serve traditional roles in the Chantry.... when the whole concept of it wasn't even founded on that idea.

And I did answer that.

Women in Thedas, including queens, may be supposed to have children while in marriage, naturally, but that is unrelated to the Chantry and has never translated into them being "stay at home moms".

She's not speaking of just tradition there though. Nobles don't just marry for the same reasons others do. It's political.

Like I said, she's bemoaning duties as a Pentaghast specifically. She has no interest playing Game of Thrones.

That is traditonal for a noble startum, so are dowaries, Thedas has a bride price, rather traditional.  Secondly her words, " 'and would have ended up sitting around at home all day.' I would call that traditional/conservative."

Does Cass actually say that? I need to check.

I got it around the time the Inquisitor questions her about wanting to become Divine, I'm not sure if it was connected to that, or if it was a separate dialogue option.

I don't remember her saying it, but she didn't like how her Uncle kept her around as a "porcelain doll".

But again, I think this just goes back to noble impulses... he's rearing her to just be presentable, in whatever game he has planned in the future.. pairing her with some "noble fool".

It doesn't mean she's against marriage itself. She's a sappy romantic.

By the way, calling something noble does not make it 'not traditional'.

It is, but this is a new context with it's own political concerns. It has nothing to do with the Chantry. From your posts, I assumed your main concern is religion.

I went through the "What if Anthony was still alive" and "Do you want to become Divine" conversations and Cass didn't told anything about how she would have ended up sitting around at home all day. Though she complained her uncle was treating like her a porcelaine doll to be dusted off "when necessary", as Street wrote.

My main concern was Cassandra as a character, her 'psychology', specifically how she views marriage and the roles associated with it.
