Plus most of the natural drugs are legal and quite cheap since you are buying through legitimate channels.

If its not made in a lab with chemicals, its legal.

You're aware that most every legal legitimate drug to exist in modern medicine has been made in a lab with chemicals, yes? And by legitimate drug, I mean actual medicinal drugs regulated and controlled by the FDA (or whatever your country has that is similar to the FDA), not that fake alternative crap or illicit synthetic drugs like meth or ecstasy.

The difference between something like hospital-issued morphine and morphine sold by a street dealer is that hospital-issued morphine has been tested for safety and is made with strict regulations by licensed doctors and scientists, not by some trafficked workers in a warehouse basement in the inner city wearing gardening gloves and cotton masks.

The point is, who cares what people on the street use. To each their own. Good riddance. Or whatever. It's their choice. Nannying everyone isn't solving anything.

Of course. I didn't mean the medical ones. I meant the crappy ones. Meth will never be legal, its made in a lab, or at least chemically as you said.

Most organic drugs are legal, because its pointless to make them illegal. We still have illegal drug dealers here that might sell crappy morphine, but their numbers are very few and they quickly go out of business. Why? Because who the hell in their right mind would pay 10x more for a drug that is mostly likely dangerous when they can buy organic drugs for cheap. Not to mention these organic drugs are approved to be not dangerous.

I don't really care what the point was, the statement I was responding to was very, very wrong.

Opium and Heroin is dangerous (same as Morphine above, as Ventus mentioned). But people should be smart enough to not use it. And if they aren't, they should at least be smart enough to take it easy. William Burroughs was like the "godfather of smack", but he lived until his 80s as a moderate heroin addict. So it can be done, I guess. But if they can't even manage that, it's their own fault.

It's even more ridiculous for marijauna users though. Prisons shouldn't be packed for these crimes. It's a waste.

Was he a moderate or was he an addict? Those are antonyms.

He never could kick the habit, so just medicated himself a little until the end of his life. He only had one period where he was hardcore, I think.

That would be expensive though.... but he was a fairly famous writer.

Indeed and people should be smart. But if its actually made properly, its so much less dangerous than the crappy one distributed on the streets.

Remember that most poets were addicts, they saw angels and beauty when they were high. Nowadays people jump from 10 floor windows when they are high.

Clearly shows the quality of it back and right now.

Its not a good side of DA lore. Its clearly an addiction and I suspect most Templars don't live to become a veteran. Addiction either kills them or they go insane after they are relieved of duty due to old age. Or the chantry continues to provide to retired Templars.

The one in front of chantry door in Denerim is a good example. (in DAO)

Yeah, I was just reading up on it.... just to double check Burroughs junky period. Came across some other literary figures.

Keats and Elizabeth Browning stick out. It's said she was a morphine addict almost her whole life, and died on it at age 55.

It's nice that they were still religious though :D

Its part of the willing sacrifice the Order undertakes to protect the world against magic.

Its their weapon, tool and choice.

They aren't philosophers, academics or moralists, their soldiers and they accept their role or don't become Templars.

You accept the philter or you don't serve.

They're better off becoming Seekers.

That's the one thing I like about Leliana's ending... Anyone who wants to use these powers would be a Seeker. They'd probably attract a lot of good ex-Templars, I think.

Did you disband them or something?

I just think there needs to be one anti-magic force. And the Seekers seem to have the better, longterm means of doing it. It just seems like the Templars are a way to control people --- except in this case, it's controlling Templars themselves too. Not just mages.

We don't get it much so I find it to be quite enjoyable, though I'm sure those that have to dig their car out of it on a daily bases in winter find it less so.

It doesn't snow enough here, but when it has, it's always fun..... and I guess refreshing. But then, Winter is always refreshing to me. It's my favorite season.
