She did worse than many abominations. It could have lead to a demon at the head of country if Hawke didn't intervene. She being possessed or not is semantics, she did it because of a demon, the demon was attracted to her "sin".
Templars don't use Lyrium in Tevinter, mages watch over themselves. If Templars are necessary, Tevinter should have fallen to abominations by now. Yet evidently it has lesser problems with demons than south because something like Ferelden circle never happened in Tevinter.

I didn't say that. My post was pointed at Street saying demons are attracted to great sins. I said indeed and gave an example.

I didn't gather that she was a mage. But I haven't played in awhile. Seemed to me that she discovered something beneath her home and the demon called to her. I could've sworn there was even dialogue about it, but like I said, I haven't played in awhile.
I thought it was tied to the fact that Kirkwall is crazy. Her own house was built atop what looks like an ancient Tevinter slaughtering hole. There are like thousands of skulls lying around.
Some people argued the demon granted her power, but its not said anywhere that she was a mage. Its one of many plotholes of DA2.

In any case, I'll just say this..
If all the Chantry is going to be about is "magic", then I'm even less interested. I liked it better when I thought it was kind of pseudo Catholicism and a religion for everyone. But if all they care about is mages 24/7... and all their energy is just devoted to that.. then it bores me. Because everyone is potentially guilty of those major sins. Mages aren't the only ones with Pride.
