From what I remember, Jaheira's ending was actually quite a downer (not as much as Viconia's though) and neither she nor CHARNAME seemed to be happy at the end, or were they? It has been so long since I finished that game.

Not at all, I'm responding to your comment that it never progresses past just a romance. She said she was interested in marriage, just not at that particular moment. How you feel about that is entirely up to you.
It does not progress past just a romance, it is never represented as otherwise. Duty is in the way of that. Saying that it will happen someday is the opposite of it taking place, moreover "someday" does not mean that it will even happen. That is more of a "we'll see" response. It's more likely that 'duty' will always be the excuse that keeps it from happening.

No they are happy, it was basically the same as Cassandra's ending. Edit. Part of what disappointed me was that it was basically Jaheira's ending, there was very little nuance or something that connected specifically with Cassandra's character, e.g. the Inquisitor reading poetry to her etc. Morrigan had the ring, Leliana apparently has her childhood home where she and the Warden spend time together. Cassandra does not have that sort of nuance, it is too generic.

What do you mean by bad romance content, because you cant marry them? I dont really care for that and im content with the roamance, its has the same amount of content as all the others.
There just wasn't enough tension or connection there for me to really feel immersed. She mainly just spoke of what "could" potentially be in the future. I had her in my party the entire time during Trespasser and there was some good romantic banter... but you never get to see them actually embrace or show their affection for each other outside of just words. I mean heck they don't even show them holding hands in any of the cut scenes!
I wasn't really enthralled with the slides after it was all over other than they were nicely drawn.

So, the ending I got was basically what I was expecting to happen. It was bittersweet and worded beautifully:
Now I must try one where she is not Divine.

You're, welcome. I've seen in the twitter thread that Mr. Gaider returned to write Cassandra and Dorian in Trespasser and I remembered that it was Gaider who was the design director in BG2: Throne of Bhaal and was responisble for the epilogues there. I remember he even wanted to elaborate more on them after the game shipped, so he changed some epilogues, including Jaheira's, and made them longer in the Ascension mod. But all in all, I guess he somewhat did base Cassandra on Jaheira's character, I've noticed similarities even throughout the main game.

When you think about it (other than the OGB) Morrigan's story is almost exactly like Viconia's lol. Hell, Regalyan is like a lesser Khalid for Cassandra.

So it's really a braid!
And apparently it's a Nevarran thing!
The braid is where all her power comes from. ![]()

I can see what you mean, though Morrigan for now got much better treatment epilogue wise. Does this mean Gaider is a bad writer who can't come up with new stuff? ![]()

Eh, with all my respect for Mr Gaider, I always felt that Alistair was Anomen 2.0.

I think it's good that he has moved onto a new series where he might come up with some fresh ideas. lol

Nah, Alistair wasn't pompous or arrogant and was much more fun to have around in general. The only similarity I can find is their holy order background, but even that differs. I'm not sure he even wrote those characters, he had less of a presence in Baldur's Gate 2 main game and didn't write all the DA characters.

Cassandra's dramatic reading is the best thing ever.
It is, every time I watch it I can't help but laugh. She did an especially good parody of Vivienne's voice, I think.

I share Cass's frustration here in how empty (outside of party banter) our final encounter was.

Maybe I missed something, show from the slides where it is actually represented as otherwise. Meaning, not your head-canon. We already know that her non-Divine romance is almost a cut and paste of Jaheira's romance.
