Saracen! Well I look at this way...At least under Byzantinia they had God...but they are French after all...

Technically they had Deus. :P Are you talking about the Byzantines (Greeco-Roman) or the Franks (basically the French without the southern French/Occitan influence.)?

All of this reminds me of the religious parallels in Dragon Age. Specifically, Charlemagne and Kordillus Drakon would have some very similar tales to share over a drink, and the Schism Wars of the Chantry are like a more upfront, violent version of the Greek Orthodox/Roman Catholic split. With war elephants and mages. Most of the countries in Dragon Age have a pretty clear main 'source'. Orlais=France, Ferelden=Anglo-Saxon England/Scotland, Antiva=Italian City-States, Tevinter=Rome then Byzantium.

But Nevarra?

I can't make head or tails of it. Geographically and politically (what with the Pentaghasts) it reminds me of Austria and its feuding with France and bullying a coalition of city-states. (The Holy Roman Empire/Free Marches.) But then you have Egyptian style burials, odd German accents, the influence of the Mortalitisi, and who knows what else.

o...o I meant the Greco Roman connection they thought they were too good to upkeep...for reasons that escape me at present and am far too lazy to look up.

And Nevarra's the mishmash of all the cultures they crammed together, even in game its like that...former marcher territory, held by Tevinter... Blah, blah...no wonder their values are screwy...least it ain't Rivain

I blame global finance mostly

Which is also tied up in the UN, . But nothing will change, until the european people rise en masse, not a few thousand, but in the hundreds of thousands.

Anyone think if Cassandra reforms the Seekers of Truth and she met Inquisitor Ameridan, she would allow Mages to join the Seekers? I think she would seriously consider it. It could even make the Vigil streamlined by having Mages attract/summon Spirits to untranquil initiates.

I think it would depend on what route you went in the inquisition. Since she all but hates you if you side with the mages. I think if you go to redcliffe and conscript them, she would indeed.

I think that's exaggerating a bit, she 'Greatly Disapproves' but she still supports the decision, she'll say that to Cullen and you. And you can ally with the Mages and the Wardens while still getting enough of her approval that she can call you a friend in conversations.

That's metagaming stuff, greatly disapproves tells you all you need to know really. You can also do everything she hates and make her like you by doing her sidequest, but I don't think that has any bearing on what the woman is like.

Isn't talking about the thread being off topic, off topic?

If you don't want it to get locked, contribute by saying something on topic, not telling grown ass adults what to talk about as if we were in grade school. The mods only come around when some narc decides to report someone anyway.

So basically what mods tell people anyway?

Don't know about you, but I don't listen to random people, just because they say what an authority figure would say. Assuming you care about the authority of some random moderator on a gaming forum anyway.

And congratulations, you contributed to the off topicness by talking about off topic discussions, while an on topic discussion is going on right now. *slow clap*

It could be she overall likes you because while you support Mage Freedom you will put your foot down on abuses in Magic and see a need for the Seekers. And there's that conversation at Haven before In Your Heart where she says she doesn't disapprove.

It's kinda like she may disprove of some of your choices but she atleast respects it

People say one thing and mean another. The game says she greatly disapproves, and you can see the effect in her disposition towards you. All I know is, while she doesn't outright hate mages, she is wary of them. In my honest opinion, I think it would take a bit for her to trust mages in an organization that basically fights mages, amongst other things of course. I think the old inquisitor's news would give her pause, consider it, but she's not jumping at the chance to throw her lot in with the mages because of the way things are today, regardless of how they were in the past.

And this. She respects you enough to go along with what you decide, despite what she thinks. For the most part.

I just think the Seekers could benefit from having Mages in their ranks. If it was possible I would have told Cassandra to consider it as a way to ease tensions and distrust between Mages and Non-Mages, like Cullen's suggestion of Templars and Mages fighting together to ease distrust between to two.

Mages cant become Seekers, they tried before and failed. While they are immune to possession, they became mentally unstable and don't gain any Seeker's powers.

And Cullen doesn't know s***, after what he had let happens in Kirkwall, he should never be allowed to become the Inquisition general.

I'm sure they would, though realistically I doubt they'd be in any better position than support, if she is their leader. I don't think you'd see "Mage seekers" basically. Just my opinion of her. And I wouldn't want to see them anyway.

I didn't mean to imply making Mages become Seekers with Tranquility and all, although maybe they could go through the Vigil but just fast and pray for a year as part of their initiation so no schmuck and walk up and join. The point was that Mages fought with the Seekers against Demons and other magical threats in the past and it would help ease anti-Mage sentiments now if they could do so again.

She's not a Templar. She's not as anti-mage as you think. Killabee.

Not to say she's totally open either, but Seekers are different. That's kind of the whole lesson she learns in that movie. And I don't just mean Galyan. Her mentor Byron was trying to help her see past things like that.

As for Mage Seekers, I don't see how it's possible. They draw all their power from the fade... it's the double edged sword. The only way to be a mage without this connection is through blood.

She even wishes that mages could have such a ritual though (I mean, being disconnected from demons, without becoming tranquil).

It was Charles Martel actually. Yeah, call me picky.  :P

No prob. I should know better... I know who he is... I shouldn't make that mistake. Two "Ls" isn't very French anyways. :P

Cassandra totally surprised me, specially regarding mage issue. She is not anti-mage at all, she is skeptical at best.

She wants mages to be free and live in better conditions, but she is also worried about safety. She is the perfect leader for a Seeker group if its going to exist.

On another note, I redid my world state. I'm gonna try this again.

This time Leliana romanced a Dalish (male). He was her first convert.

Then he killed himself.
