Yeah, feminists, historically, have been insane and stupid, dating all the way back to the days of suffrage when they would go on ridiculous hunger strikes and actually killing themselves for the cause, to the second wave never seeming to question Gloria Steinem's mental health problems, to the third wave now making vitriolic hashtags like #KillAllMen and claiming that men can't be raped because "lol men always want sex". I've seen women online say, with all sincerity, that the world would be a better place if 90% of the world's population of men were to die off. I've been called (to my face) a rape apologist and a woman-beater by a woman because I disagreed with them.

 

Semi-related, because this video is interesting: Just remember: domestic violence is bad when a man hits a woman (as it should be, because domestic violence is bad no matter who is perpetrating it), but it's totally cool to point and laugh, and even join in when it's a woman hitting a man.

You're right, they don't all hate men. I even said myself that there are feminists who aren't stupid, even if I disagree with them. But enough of them hate men, which is too many.

 

And no, I don't particularly care for people talking s**t about me, especially to my face like that and saying that I condone a serious crime, telling me to kill myself.

I really hope you looked at this a second time after posting it and saw how incredibly stupid this comparison is. A dog is not a cat because it is physiologically NOT a cat. Being a cat is not an ideology like feminism is. Any man or woman can claim to be a feminist, because "feminist" is not an organism with genetic traits, it's a set of opinions.

 

Seriously, Ventus just chill, all of the regular women posters here are adults, and we won't spam your inbox with ' your a man and your bad' kind of ****'.

 

I never claimed that any one of you did anything of the sort.

 

However,  you also have to be understanding that women suffer discrimination in the workplace more than men do in some professions, and Men suffer the same  in other professions.

 

Yeah, and it's funny how there's never any kind of evidence given for this behavior, other than the occasional poll that gets its results from self-reporting (aka the least informative and most useless kind of poll). People at work can be ***holes, but in 2015 I very much doubt it's due to sexism. Not on a large or systematic scale anyway. I don't doubt that there is SOME sexism, but to state or even imply that it's a *big problem* is disingenuous and dishonest.

Yeah, and the media and politicians had to get their "information" from somewhere. The myth about how women make 77 cents to every dollar a man makes is so pervasive that our President is parroting it, and it almost embarrasses me to call myself an American because I would really have expected a man in such a seat of power to know better. Or maybe he actually does know better and he's just using that myth to gain more support, what with him being a politician and all. He's either an idiot or a genius.

 

For example, the stupid super model **** 'all woman have to have big breasts be curvaceous wear provocative clothing' ect ect, and all men have to be dupe muscly and have short hair, and ****** themselves around to be 'Manly'.

 

Nobody is actually saying these things. Hollywood maybe, but no actual mentally healthy, rational human beings who didn't grow up in an actual misogynistic or misandrist societies would ever say anything even remotely like this.

Yeah, both men and women would do well to borrow that basic underlying principle that the 2nd Wave had: The need to define yourself, without distractions.

Let's not pretend that the second wave was exactly "normal". These are the same people who freely associated with figures like Andrea Dworkin, who claimed that pornography is the same as rape and was a known anarchist. Or Valerie Solanas, who wrote a book which laid out a plan to do away with society and install a new one led solely by women in its place (aka SCUM, aka 'Society for Cutting Up Men). That second woman also tried to kill Andy Warhol and several of his associates.

 

And there's Gloria Steinem, who is practically the poster child for the second wave. The same Gloria Steinem who claims that women have no reproductive rights (in 2013, mind you) and that women don't have political equality in the United States.

Ah ah, these statistics are skewed and don't account for skill, education, experience, their occupation, etc. It also doesn't account for things like leave for pregnancy, and all that, or the different fields that a woman might not even be interested or suited for working in.

 

In short, it's BS. All it shows is that women make less, which makes sense since in our country, men are the ones expected to work, not women. More women stay home than men here.

 

How does any of this contradict my point that there is no sort of objective economic equality? Don't you rather provide further evidence to support what I said?

It's not BS, it is a fact. Only the reasons for that fact are manifold.

 

And I will just ignore the "men are the ones expected to work, not women" machoism. While many people think so almost everywhere in the world, it can't simply be accepted as an argument.
