Yeah, with all the healing plants we come across, it's surprising there aren't any painkillers.

*nods*

I did a poppy comparison a few years back

Wonder what the Thedosian equivalent to Heroin is

It probably involves Elfroot.

Personally I find it remarkable there is no commercial growing of herbs given the wide swaths of fertile ground and vast farming populations across Thedas.

Indeed and if its economic viability was to be further increased merely make it a forced labor camp for malcontents and criminals.

Have monitored work details across the farms be a replacement for long term stay in the jails. In fact...I think having it under the jurisdiction of the Orlesian army it could double as a training and experience methodology.

Herbs can flourish in Orlesian soil from across Thedas and imagine the sheer alacrity of their implementation if the Army already had a primary source in the Orlesian heartland.

Evolution, Modernization are key to survival of self and state.

I rather like Sera. She's so normal, with all the pros and cons it implies. She's not the brightest tool in the shed and is painfully aware of it, she's rude and crass and filthy and close-minded and totally right in being affraid of all the weird things she crosses paths with. But it's totally alright.

I agree with this. I saw Sera as a breath of fresh air...and her romance is pretty good. Romancing her as an ef though, that is awkward as ****...

True, but it's a bit of a double-edged sword: KE, in my view, is one of those builds that total control by the player in order to truly flourish. Thus, Vivienne is chronically in the "forever alone" tier when it comes to my party compositions, along with Bull and Cole.

True as well, I'm not worried about survivability for my mage slot, so I don't need her either. Comboing shield charge with solas' void pull thing (along with his fire mine which is a sweet sweet ability), makes for a great deal of carnage and lots of damage.

My canon Inq is a 2h Champion (dragon blood and lyrium addiction kinda kill the other two for me. Besides, Reaver is fun but Aura of Pain limits how many moves you can really use) the only companion I'm not a fan of is Iron Bull because... some of his party banter is funny I guess

There's that Wyvern drug that gets brought up in DA2:Mark of the Assassin and the codex for the Wyvern in DAI. And then there's the berries in Blackwall's story you get in the Hissing Wastes. But those are more like LSD/mushrooms equivalents.

My canon inq is a reaver, though my favorite class is always champion. Reaver sword and shield warrior is more interesting though. Feels more BA and I always prefer "dark" characters anyway. And having dragon's blood just feels appropriate...

Appropriate to what?

It's practically blood magic. I think it's retarded here. Especially when they don't even let us be blood mages.

And it's treated so casually. Like we're eating cake. The quests, like everything else, is shallow. DAO did it right... it was epically screwed up. That was "appropriate". Not to mention the Inquisitor doesn't come off like a pain obsessed Rager. At least Hawke did, even though the Specs were shallow too.

Reaver s&s? That actually sounds interesting. The guard build potential could balance out some of the health sacrifice of Dragon Rage. I figured it was the 2h staple though given its dps potential. But I suppose coming for the girl who uses Champion with 2h that's a bit ironic...

Sounds to me like both 2h and SnS are good, gameplay wise.

I just think it's stupid. It's the "Awesome Button" all over again. It comes from the same mentality at least.

I agree that from a story narrative perspective, the way it is treated doesn't fit the lore of Dragon Age. Or "lore". The closest it gets is Cassandra's comments on the effects it had on her ancestors but even she is all "nah you'll tots be fine".

Yeah, it's a copout.

I know why they do it though. A lot of people don't like self-righteous characters. Or losing companions over these type of choices (like Leliana and Wynne in DAO). Look at Sera... they tried to be a little more challenging with her, where she sort of gives ultimatums, and now people don't like her.

It seems to be the same with Vivienne. I actually like characters who are fully realized, with strongly held beliefs that may not align with mine. Its why I actually liked the Arishok in DA2. Disagreed with him. Killed him. But he was interesting. I'd rather lose companions as the consequences of my actions than have my actions have no consequences.

Users of the key to Solas' orb, and heralds of andraste, if she was an old god baby.

I love blood magic and don't care, lol. But yes it is indeed treated too casually.

It doesn't matter if you like blood magic or not. I'll play it myself, if it can fit. It's just shitty here. But I guess we agree (on the casual part).

DAO, ME2, and KotoR, I guess, is what I expect from Bioware. There was good companion drama in those. You could wiggle out of it under the right conditions, but it was a little easier to get the drama.

I don't get the shitty thing, it's always been treated as no big deal on every game for the protagonist to have blood magic. Even Hawke can just casually use it willy nilly right in front of templars and no one cares. *shrug* It fits for me. Desperate times. At least with inquisition, they have a history of ignoring questionable things for the sake of the goal. Solas for one.

It's stands out more because you're with a Seeker. They're known for hunting blood magic violations the most. Even if she doesn't mention her ancestors, her Andrastianism should kick in more. Or she'd at least be wary, because she's dealt with two traumatic events dealing with dragon blood cults (once in her movie and then with her brother's death). Those aren't Reavers, but it'd still be unsettling for anyone with experiences like that.

But no, you're about as benign as someone eating donuts.

As for Hawke, at least his voice actor sounded like a pissed off Rager. He's full of combat barks and relishes in death and battle, like Reaver descriptions. The Inquisitor is bland in comparison. "One down!" And he actually had a decent storyline filled with Pain and loss, that you could play into a whole Reaver backstory. Not to mention he owned a ****** Dragon Pit and was rescued by an ancient dragon goddess. The Spec is just as shallow, but at least there's more to work with with that guy.
