I actually don't use the blood magic specializations in the other games. Not because I couldn't rp a character that would use such methods but because its never addressed by characters who would ardently oppose it (or those who would support it for that matter).

They had some dialogue in DAO.. too bad it was cut out.

But you had to screw over Connor and let the demon posess him, which is pretty appropriate. At least there's a price. And only your mage could do it.. Not even Morrigan thinks it's OK. lol

I never even got that scene. All the specialization were unlocked but I got the ultimate edition of the game and I think it provided alternate methods for all specs. I'm actually totally fine with that scenario (well, fine from a story perspective. Its super evil) And how can Morrigan balk at that? She's totally on board if you sacrifice those elven slaves to augment your health!

I think because, as nasty as she can be, she's still very independent. So she's playing it safe with the demon. She can't trust them. With the city elves, you're dealing directly with a magister.

Not a mage and not blood magic, problem solved ;)

Like I said, I'd like for them to say something more, but well, they're already used to you doing weird magey **** anyway with the mark. This would just be one more thing.

How is it not blood magic. It's magical powers, with blood involved. It doesn't matter if you're a mage. Blood Magic is like any school of magic, with it's own branches and skillsets. This one can be utilized by non-mages. Reaver has to fall in somewhere, and it is sure isn't Primal or Elemental or Spirit magic.

She knows what a Reaver is. You're not fooling her. The stupidity of it is it means nothing.

The whole thing is just some shallow bullshit for kids who want an "AWESOME BUTTON". You're better than this. :D

I'm sure many can rationalize the quasi-blood magic in their minds, as long as it is used for their general benefit.

Now, I always thought it would harder to sell the cannibalism angle...

No not really, I'm not at all, lol. :P And neither is the chantry. They regularly and hypocritically use magic with templars but don't call it such because they're not technically mages, Seekers being especially magey, so warriors using the power of dragon blood to augment their abilities, and this being overlooked isn't at all far fetched, especially since there's no demon risk, or mind control, which is the whole reason maleficar are hunted in the first place. The pattern in the lore is set broski ;)

Seekers aren't magey. In Solas' words, they "enforce reality". Which is the opposite of magic. They quell connections to the Fade.

If you don't think you're better than that though, fair enough. I'll take this into account. I had wanted you to be. I think it's OK to play.... if I treated Dragon Age as some arcade game. But as an RPG, it annoys me.

To the first line, bs, don't give me that. If you can make an excuse for warriors using magic, magic that mages themselves have as well and use against demons and other mages, you can make the same excuse for reavers.

To the last, lol I don't care, at the end of the day I play what is fun, and if it works for my headcanon and my roleplay, which it does as I wrote this in my fanfiction and everyone I know who took the time to read it liked it a lot, then I'm just fine with it.

It's not BS. It's the truth. They cut off magic. They aren't mages. They play more with some unknown relationship with the Veil, but it's not as if they are wielding magic. They suppress it. It's something to do with the nature of the two worlds.

They use magic to cut off magic... it's magic broski. Magic that comes from lyrium for non mages, and the same magic that mages get from the fade.

I don't know about you but balls of light hitting and destroying demons and mages, that's magic. Surely isn't from any physical weapon. It flies out of their ass just like fancy pants mages, lol.

It's an entirely different phenomenon, I think.. that wouldn't exist except for something new about this plane's relationship with the other. It's unique to this world. I think that's why Solas is so fascinated.

Blood magic doesn't come from the fade and yet it's called magic. It's the same thing my man, and reaver magic or whatever you wish to call it comes from dragon blood, not the fade so even if it isn't, then neither is reaver "magic".

Dragons came from the other side of the veil. They aren't from here apparently. They're the definition of magical creature.

I like that blood magic can cut off one from the Fade, but I don't know where it originally came from or what to believe... if it truly was taught by demons originally. Or why they would do that in the first place.

Everyone came from the other side of the veil once upon a time. And anyway, so did lyrium, and that's what templars use to get their abilities. And Seekers got theirs from spirits of faith. Magic magic magic.

Say what? Everyone? I missed that part.

And yet these Temps don't use magic. They suppress it. Magic is the ability to augment reality, as you would a dream. They can't do that. They do the exact opposite. Just enforce reality.

They suppress it with magic my man. Mages in inquisition have the same ability. Magic simply changes reality. Cancelling out someone else's reality is changing it. Same as how you can get rid of a pathway in the fade and make a new one. It's not this complex thing that needs a philosophical debate, all of this is magic. The only difference is that the chantry despises those born with it because they attract demons.

As for coming from the fade, that's not really lore fact, just going off of what solas said and some clues left behind in the elven notes, so even if true, it's not common knowledge, so I can't actually use that point.

I agree it's not complex. You're just trying to justify a Reaver. I understand.

They cancel magic. Which makes it the least magical thing around.

Well I guess you should tell Bioware they made a mistake when they gave mages a non magical spell :P Other fantasy games have magic cancelling magic too, like The Elder Scrolls. It's not a new idea. It glows and kills magical creatures by reacting to their magic and makes them die somehow. Sounds magical to me. If it looks like a dog, smells like a dog and sounds like a dog, it's a dog.

Worst Indy movie.

But it'd be nice if blood magic looked like that here.

Whether or not Seekers or Templars are magical in nature I'm not sure, but I think saying that Cassandra would accept anything in any way associated with blood magic is far fetched. She is fairly open minded about magic in general, and I actually appreciate that she breaks from the traditional Chantry position in many ways in regards to her compassion for mages. But she has a personal history with blood magic. One that still influences her to the present date. I can't really see her writing that off.
