And you're trying to justify your irrational dislike of it :P

Well I guess you should tell Bioware they made a mistake when they gave mages a non magical spell :P Other fantasy games have magic cancelling magic too, like The Elder Scrolls. It's not a new idea. It glows and kills magical creatures by reacting to their magic and makes them die somehow. Sounds magical to me. If it looks like a dog, smells like a dog and sounds like a dog, it's a dog.

I don't have an irrational dislike of it. I've played it plenty in past games.

It's just shitty here specifically.. DAI handwaves a lot of things. This is all I dislike. I expect better, because I know they can do better. As appealing as it might be gameplay wise, I'm not going to wiggle my way into justifying it.

I would've preferred they went for Beserker as the offensive spec. It doesn't demand much thought. Considering we're in Ferelden (Ash Warriors) or dwarves around, it'd be easy to work with.

Awkwardddddddddddd....

Disclaimer: Anything between boom and I is cultural TTPOE. This is standard behaviour, for us Islanders. Do not be alarmed.  :P

What's TTPOE? I googled it and got some kind of Texas law...

Worst Indy movie.

But it'd be nice if blood magic looked like that here.

I agree.

Though in this case, I take "worst" to really mean "not as good as the others", since I adore all of the Indy movies. Even the 4th.

I might have to watch it again. You're right...It's still Indy, after all.

Whether or not Seekers or Templars are magical in nature I'm not sure, but I think saying that Cassandra would accept anything in any way associated with blood magic is far fetched. She is fairly open minded about magic in general, and I actually appreciate that she breaks from the traditional Chantry position in many ways in regards to her compassion for mages. But she has a personal history with blood magic. One that still influences her to the present date. I can't really see her writing that off.

I'm sure we could speak at length with her about the semantics of it being blood magic...

But srsly guys, eating flesh, drinking blood. Is that not taboo in Thedas?

That we have to ask that now is the kind of the state of things... that I'm lamenting a little.

Dragon flesh. No more taboo than eating porkchop ;) Lol. I'm sure it's strange of course, but it's not cannibalism, so I don't see the big deal or why the chantry would get squeamish about it. Hell they may even thank you for it, since you had to kill a dragon to do this and everyone hates dragons. Old gods or no.

It's the ritual and magic involved with blood that's a problem. Or are you at the point now where the Chantry should be groovy with even that? What's the point of even having factions if everything is this inclusive.

I'm sure the dragon chops are OK themselves though.

Yeah, don't get caught doing that  :P

He's very good, but to be honest MVP mage goes to Vivienne easily because her class is op as hell and can solo dragons. It's the mage's champion class basically.

Well yeah, but how many dragons do we have?

The problem with KE AI is it will never move to melee range itself to use spirit blade and will only use it when enemies get close. It will always use staff auto attack and ranged spells as priority unless enemies move to its melee range, it will never move to melee itself.

KE is ten times better with human control, but the AI plays the rift mage almost good as the human player.

So what, lol. Like I said, the chantry only ever had an issue with magic because it attracted demons and lead to control over men's minds. This isn't even magic to them because there's no mages involved or piercing of the veil. Templars have their rituals too, as do seekers.

Just because blood is involved and dragons are involved doesn't mean everyone's gonna have their panties in a twist. It's dragon blood, not human.

edit: Well, and the darkspawn thing, that mainly. But I meant their issue with bloodmagic specifically.

I'm talking about the way Reaver's sustain (and empower) themselves in battle. Same "Devour" ability across all three games.

Oh come on. You can use Devour on anything from giant spiders to bandits in that game :P

"So what".. Is that a question?

Boundaries and biases make a setting interesting.

If you don't have them, then it might as well be a playground of complete randomness. Maybe we should turn Dragon Age into Second Life... and have everyone walking around dressed as Giant Penises, and cutting their wrists (the penises will have little arms btw ;) ).

I refuted by calling you random. Or rather, the implications of where you're heading implies a lot of randomness. There's no holds barred in your thinking. You just want everything accepted without any factional interplay or story around it. Even making the Chantry complicit to dragon blood rituals.

It's one thing to like these things. Another to make everyone in the setting cool with it.

Here's something interesting. It actually changes the argument by saying they feast on souls, and that reaver abilities are demonic in nature after all:

Demonic spirits teach more than blood magic. Reavers terrorize their enemies, feast upon the souls of their slain opponents to heal their own flesh, and can unleash a blood frenzy that makes them more powerful as they come nearer to their own deaths.

That's from Origins. So, there you go.

Taking The ****** Out of Each other..

Ever wonder why I  call boom Kiwi, and say stupid ****, and yet we never fight? That's because it is normal behaviour( like I'm not even joking, it really is normal behaviour here). Kiwi's and Aussies do this like, all the time. Like if your in a bar, and there are all nationalities, you will 9/10 find the Kiwis and aussies hanging together.

That isn't at all the case, but whatever. You just ignore what is inconvenient to your opinion, not that it matters, as origins actually shows it's very demonic after all.

My only opinion is I want more storyline here and factions to show some grievances. Which you first agreed with (you said you didn't like it being treated as casual).

You seem to think I dislike Reaver in and of itself.. which is not the case.

Have not gotten there yet but thanks for the reminder I need to make sure she was in the party.  I was talking with the augur about the abomination and had her and I was just watching Cass's reactions, I expected her to really freak out, all I got was an "Inquisitor!" (Cassandra slightly dissaproves)

Not really a Cass related noe but I did go through a lot of trouble to take Solas to that last area was hoping to hear him react to the whole 'Dread Wolf' thing...and I did not get the Dialog...think I picked the wrong thing. :(  Even was tempted to reload but would have had to go back like half an hour. O.O

"Ripping out" is not devouring. In DA2 they just came clean and made the animation full-on cannibalism.

And yes, back in Origins the flavor amounted to sucking up ghost farts. While that might be superficially more easy to stomach than cannibalism, it places it directly in the 100-percent-blood-magic territory.

On another note, I wonder how Sten views Bull.. apparently he's not a fan of Reavers either.
