My only opinion is I want more storyline here and factions to show some grievances.

You seem to think I dislike Reaver in and of itself.. which is not the case.

As do I, but ignoring a fun ability because Cass doesn't get all pissy about you being a reaver isn't going to change that they don't. As long as I have a decent excuse, in my opinion, I'm fine with it, and accept that you aren't. Though I'm not surprised, since Iron Bull is involved :P Anyway, they accepted a demon, a tevinter, and a strange elf not from the city or from the dalish. It's a very ragtag group, and very desperate times. Cass and the rest may not say something about it when they should, but that's not enough to ignore the ability for me altogether.

I can BE cool, but I prefer not to. It isn't that I can't see your point. My stance is intentional. I took this setting a little too seriously, I guess. Now it's like playing Wipeout. Or just some arcade game. Choosing things for the sake of fun seems to be the course.

I do this all the time with games, but I hate doing it here. I like delving into the psychology behind all of the choices and character behaviors.. that makes roleplaying games fun for me.

On another note, I wonder how Sten views Bull.. apparently he's not a fan of Reavers either.

I'd hope he'd treat him like any other Tal Vashoth and take his head. Bull's explanation of the Qun is my issue with him. He out right contradicts Sten on several occasions.

Which is understandable given who he is...I mean heck its not like Christians or Muslims never contradict each other on their religions.

Except the Qun denies any form of individualism. And even according to Bull it does not tolerate different interpretations (the Ben-Hasreth will mind rape you otherwise). It has an entire branch of its government dedicated to interpreting and dictating what is in line with the religion. Its borderline militaristic in its philosophy. So either Bull doesn't really understand the Qun, or it was fundamentally changed between DAO and DAI.

I don't know what to make of it either. Whether it's a retcon or Bull is intentionally just trying to butter you up... in the hopes that you embrace more extreme things later. Cults do this often.

But of course, you can also turn it against him and he's the one who changes.

Given Bull's different role, I think a big part of it is him having a different perspective. I think it's heavily implied that he's also pretty uncomfortable with a lot of things that happen within the Qun, so he would rather avoid certain subjects or obfuscate. Though, there is no doubt that some things have been retconned, like "Ralshokra" from WoT vol.1.

True.. He doesn't like the actual prospect of invasion, I think. I think he likes people like Sera and Varric and doesn't want them to get brain wiped.

Before release, I expected a funnier character though. I was thinking Randy Quaid in Kingpin. But Bull is more troubling than I expected..

Except he has been outside the Qun for years.

Regardless to me anyways it did not seem that Iron Bull really contradicted the Qun, how I understand it anyways, much at all.  He kind of seemed to avoid the subject a lot of the time.

That's fair. I suppose part of my problem came from my expectations of the character and understanding of the Qun. Bull does give indication of a great deal of discomfort in regards to the Qun and his personal quest makes more sense in light of that.

I would have actually preferred another serious Qun member. At least I can understand them. Or for someone with a crisis-of-faith, Tallis was cool (to me anyways.. I know a lot of people hate her too).

Ugh. At least Bull wouldn't lie to your face about it being sunshine and uplifting for everybody.

"Yeah, I know you're a mage, but trust me. It would great, your role wouldn't even change!" I just wanna crush her ****ing head.

Did she say that? I thought it was yet another thing conveniently ignored. :D

She doesn't acknowledge the mage part, and Hawke doesn't get to either, which makes the whole thing so much worse. Tallis is gaaahbage. You know, I think that, for whatever reason, both of the elven Ben-Hassrath characters have been the most insufferable pieces of shite to appear in the games.

Qunari suck in general, but I'll take Felicia Day if I have to choose one. To go in line with what me and Killabee were talking about Reavers, she has more of a "fun factor" to me than Bull.

Who was the other elf? I missed that.

Ah.. never even had Bull that long yet. I guess I will on the current warrior.

You didn't ask me about the psychology of my choice however. I could have told you that. You just insulted it and dismissed it as kiddy and not worthy of you, or me for that matter, which while I know for you seems like a gesture of respect, is rather... humorous, lol.

edit: Before you say it, I mean what roleplay reasons I decided to take a power, despite champion being my preferred specialization for gameplay.

The kiddy thing is just a criticism in general. No different than saying Earth Shaking Strike is kiddy. And that's not magic at all. Reaver is a flashy offensive spec, without any price, conflict, or substance anymore.

It's not like I wanted you to fall in that category. It was kind of sad for me, actually. :D

I liked her well enough.  And I think from the Qunari's part everything would be better for people.  That is pretty much the thing of the Qun.  That inviduality and Freedom cause suffering among people.  More so then anything else.  And a mage's role probably wouldn't change under the Qun, they'd still get to do magic.  To us it is barbaric...in fact I think in unbiased logic it is barbaric...but to the ideology of the Qun and perhaps the vast majority of its adherents...with the only exception of new converts and the Qun...this would be a good thing.  At least the Iron Bull struggles with the faith, so does Tallis.

...are you talking about the Elf that called Bull Hissrad?  He didn't have enough of a role at all to be good or bad to me.  He was in what...three cut scenes?  Granted I didn't like him and sort of made a shooing motion when the quest was over this time, but nothing to inspire that much hate.

****

Oh and Guys...guess whose Divine?   Miss Disgusted Noise herself is Kara's Divine. :D

I don't care about the Qunari perspective. Tallis and Gatt both abhor slavery, and then preach the word of slavers, which makes them less than dirt in my eyes.

It's just with the way he tries to pick fights with Viv and Dorian, and again with the "from slave to slaver" angle.
