Anyone else hoping that ME:A is nothing like DA:I?

I see the disconnect here. Dragon mentioned two separate things: His main story time for DA:I and what a complete play through of older games entailed. Daemion was responding to them separately but in a format that made them appear like a part of the same point.

Exactly. In my defense, I hadn't slept for ~30 hours when I wrote the post. I can see now why people misunderstood it. Sorry about that. ^^

@LinksOcarina: What I posted about DA:I was -not- the complete playthrough, it was only what constitutes the main story.

So what's the issue here?

ME1 - 4 hours of core content, 30+ hours for a complete game

DAI - 8 hours of core content, 120 hours or so for a complete game

Well... there are multiple issues with both games but only a few relate to the amount of (core) content.

ME1 has ~13% core content, DA:I less than 7%, at least by playtime. If and how that counts for anything is subjective, cause it depends on how much a player enjoyed all the parts of the game.

And what I posted was the complete story of Mass Effect.

Eight missions, really.  Regarding a complete playthrough, thats more or less irrelevant to the discussion.

Me purchasing the game requires me not to hear the words, open-world and exploration too much. Now i am slightly stupid but not that stupid as i realize that there will be fetch quests probably envolving clusters, satellites or minerals or you have to find a radio message and deliver it to some random person at the other end of the map(probably recorded messages as bioware "listens to feed back") but i am hoping they keep it limited and focus on what they do really well as i would rather have fun for 20 hours than be bored for 20 hours and sell the game.

When counting the length of the story in DAI, you really should count the time needed to acquire any necessary Power (which wouldn't be long, but it should be counted).

Definitely, thats the best part!

To be fair though, it is so damn easy to accumulate power without ever worrying about running out for story missions. Hell, I had almost all I needed from the Hinterlands alone. That takes like an hour or so to complete.

I legit hope we have to take a literal 20 hour mako drive across that whole map.

Yeah, we need to make an important delivery! The sooner you arrive, the better your reward will be... and if you take too long, the mission fails. :D

I'm not kidding, though.

I loved the planetary exploration with the Mako in ME. It might have been my favorite part. I want them to make it better, which means bigger with more exploration.

Looks like you will be getting your wish, if their emphasis on exploration is to be believed.

The good news is that the maps will look better, be better designed, and the Mako will control better than in ME1. There also won't be rampant asset reuse with the dungeons.

The bad news is that the game will still almost certainly be overstuffed with filler and boring busywork.

The exploration feature will be better than ME1 but likely still a blower.

According to Aaryn Flynn, ME:A will have a Multi-Player mode but it won't be like Dragon Age.

This, alone, is interesting.  Does it mean, that internally,  Bio acknowledges DAI's MP shortcomings?

It means they're going in a different direction. It gives no hint as to why.

I'm hoping it's not like ME3's MP either

More likely that ME:AMP was mostly, if not completely formulated before DA:O's release. ME:A was probably out of pre-production in the middle of DA:I's production, so I doubt that BioWare could have learned any major lessons from DA:I post release.

Wouldn't be surprised to see ME3's MP copied almost directly for Andromeda. That's probably what Flynn means by "not like Dragon Age".

Something Dragon Age did well with was dialogue unique for an inquisitor mage.

I really hope we get the same opportunity if we are a Biotic.
