Sorry to say but I second this.

I will even take it a step further and say that I don't believe that DAI was as successful sales wise as EA/BW had hoped despite any PR spinning to the contrary from the marketing dept.

The fact that some of the big gaming sites gave DAI high scores is nothing more than the emperor not having any clothes imo. It doesn't change the fact that the game wasn't very good.

EA can't lie to its shareholders. So no, DAI exceeded their expectations. We don't know What expectations They had Though.

It was a question. Do you consider DAI one of Bioware's better and stronger titles? And I dont mean in sells.

Do I consider it one of their strongest? No. Their weakest? Still no

I have been gaming for about as long as videogames have existed and being primarily a console gamer it's definitely more efficient to break things up into generations.

But calling something the best of a generation isn't useful without also providing some sort of cross-gen translation.

I wanted a console when I was a kid (an Atari 2600), but then I got a Commodore 64 and I've been a computer guy ever since.

Yes. It is the best of the Dragon Age games so far in my opinion.

I don't think it's their best, but I don't think it's their worst.

I hope we get a large base like Skyhold but in space where we can upgrade our travel ship, mako, armour & guns etc from resources gained from exploring the new systems and I hope we can craft again with the option to customise our guns to how like to play with huge amount of diagrams of armours & guns and perhaps different type vehicles for exploration. Perhaps we can upgrade the station to withstand attack from opposition.

I hope side-content is better and have more repeatability, than dragon age side content which was one of its weakest elements IMO. I want a human protagonist so we can have a back-story that can be looked into and explored unlike inquisition. If they do stuff like the shards again have the pay-off be a lot better and worth the actual effort put into it.

Space combat would be cool also

Of course you can and it's much more useful than not defining generations.

Newer games are a lot more sophisticated than the old 2600, 3DO and original PS games (it wasnt called PS1 until much later) I used to play.

With a lot of things in life (but not all) you simply can't go back. It's not the same. I remember being a young adult and re watching Speed Racer for the first time since I was in Kindergarten and thinking "wow...this is not how I remembered"

Ironically, at this point in time there aren't really any new games this gen that are as good as the best of last gen. It makes sense to categorize certain things time wise.

I believe DAI has the edge due to random encounters.

While I enjoy the Mako, it is a simple matter of following a path from A to B and other fixed locations; no real exploration is required. In DAI, going off in various directions away from the quest markers could still lead to discoveries.

There were some discoveries to be made with the Mako in ME. Not all points of interest apprared automatically on the map.

Yes. And what should set them apart. While ME2 and ME3 went in a different direction I find DAI and ME1 to share a lot of similar designs. Especially, as you say, when it comes to exploration.

I completely agree. Before DAI came out, I often said that ME was BioWare's only game since BG to offer meaningful exploration content.

Many of them though were fairly superfluous. That said, same thing can be said about Inquisition as well when it comes to finding stuff...so I guess it is a moot point.

So you think DAI is one of Bioware's strongest games?

I do

It's BioWare's first game to rival the greatness that was Baldur's Gate (I found BG2 disappointing). I think DAI is not only BioWare's best Dragon Age game, but BioWare's best game of the 21st century.

I definitely disagree with that Sylvius, but to each their own in the end.

I consider DAI to be Bioware's strongest entry into the Dragon Age franchise, and the best game they've put out since they were bought by EA.

Their best game, in terms of mechanics, was Neverwinter Nights.  Their best game in terms of story was KOTOR.

I don't think it's their best, but I don't think it's their worst.

If there's one thing i've learned about BSN over the years it's that every new game they make is literally the worst ever.

Well, of course EA can lie to its shareholders. It would be extraordinarily foolish to do so, though. That sort of thing can end careers, and there's no rational reason for the guys at EA to take that risk over something as trivial as DAI. No real upside to it, and the downside could be personally severe.

Honestly, I really liked DA:I.  Sure it had its problems but overall, it was a great game.  What I don't understand is with all the details that were put into the character creation system, why does BioWare always fail to understand that we really would like more than 7 hairstyles?
