In the ME 3 MP forum, by all projected calculations, the graphed arcs of ego, rage, and delusion should have crossed each other in a pinnacle conflagration of nuclear proportions. We should have passed a critical mass of perfect stormism, resulting in a tangled post-apocalyptic mess of girders composed of the twisted metal remains of the great ego wars.

But, instead this place seems like the last bastion of vaguely rational discourse in a chaotic vortex of ragey delusion.

And, as promised in the title, a brief moment for nostalgia...

In Memoriam

Like so many of my threads, it lived a short, but fun life. salute.gif

And now for the part that has the ME 3 MP question that I would like to ask:

tumblr_inline_miwp9vxU1k1qz4rgp.gif

I generally do my hatesurfing with a Volus Adept. I would very much like to do it with a Volus Vanguard, but there is a problem. There are several kits that I don't use because a signature power is mapped to a button that I can't get used to. In the case of the Volguard, his Shield Boost is mapped to the left bumper, whereas every other Volus has the ability mapped to the right bumper. My performance when I use a Volguard suffers enormously because I constantly use the wrong power.

I get the impression that I'm fairly unusual in this way, and that other people have no problem switching around which button works with which power without issue. My question is for anyone who has experienced this problem and overcome it. Any recommendations? I have considered spec'cing out of Shield Boost, which would probably resolve the issue, but seems like it might be a seriously suicidal thing to do (even with a Vanguard.)

I actually don't like how the same powers on different kits are mapped to different buttons.  It takes a little bit to get used to for me, too, but I just stick with it and get used to it after a while.

I find that it normally takes about a wave for me to get used to an odd button placement before adjusting. I tend to turn Bloodlust on and off again during the first wave that I play the Vorcha engineer, for example, since I'm so used to playing the other two.

Also, I maintain that Charge-surfing is by far the worst surfing. In that gif, the little guy is surfing, what? Maybe a meter and a half? Weak.

I am curious how you think you can surf with a Volus adept...

Practice. It's all about reaction mapping in the brain.

That is of course total bullshit but it sounds kind of right.

I skip Shield Boost on my Volguard since I'll be charging and punching as much as possible anyway.

My Volus is not a support character; his job is not to keep you alive.

Oh, I assure you, I'm not using Shield Boost to keep other people alive.

The PS3/Xbox switch was funny too.. X and stuff. Or A.. or something like that. And PC, I have no idea what button does what and where they are situated (even though I can type without looking at a keyboard). And right now I'm struggling with US keyboard layout.

Practice, practice, practice.

It's that last line that is making me want to try Google translate. This should be fun. Grabbing the first bit:

Us keyboard...wtf  Change Your Sounds?  :P  :D  More but your PC with friends hahahah  :D

Erhm, let's see what it does with the second bit:

Whut.. ok. Temporarily yeah. Syssymmällä back to Finland and PC/consoles at.

Good talk.

The actual sentence that I typed into Google Translate was: You didn't explain what boobs had to do with anything, you weirdo!

I figured "weirdo" was culturally-specific enough to elicit some kind of oddly translated humorous result, while being "safe" enough to hopefully avoid calling you anything really nasty.

It was a risk. :P

I only put 3 points in shield boost on the Volguard.  He's like a mini Batguard, and I rarely need to SB, mostly it's for teammates.  I do find it annoying that the button is swapped, but after about a wave or so, my brain remembers.

Pepperidge Farm also remembers.

This is correct.  Volguard shield boost involves flying into the enemies face, then punching his balls off.
