On a side note: You ever think the anti-SJW's make just a as big a deal of things as the SJWs?

Spoiler

SJWs: Complain about everything

Anti-SJWs: Attempt to educate (in their own way) on the corruption that SJWs are creating.

Think about it, it's freakin depressing how much they can change things just by calling out "bigotry!" or "racism!" thus the governments use these "issues" as distractions from the real issues. And SJWs use the word bigot wayyy too much without knowing what it means. It means a person who is intolerant of other people's views. Them attacking person because they're different from they are is bigotry.

The flag is a symbol of racist trash people too. But you can't just get rid of the flag altogether .. As I said what happens to all the places where it has been used? media, books etc?

Yes and I personally don't see the point in trying to do so, though removing it from public property (And, I dunno, state flags? lol, oh Mississippi...) is totally cool. And if Apple doesn't want to sell it, good for them.

Technically if we're calling what Apple is doing censorship, which I'm fine with calling it that, I would say Wal-mart's actions would also count as such. If it's banning the promotion of a particular idea represented by that flag within its stores, anyway. Well, whatever. Still their prerogative.

That... can be flipped in a variety of ways.

I've seen "SJW" abused and spammed in the same manner that actual SJWs do to "racist".

It's become a bit of a knee-jerk buzzword in its own right.

My state is dumb but the gulf coast is completely different from the rest of it thus I don't claim to be a part of Mississippi.

I think the divide is because rather than just dropping the products from the store, like Wal-Mart. Apple is requesting developers take out that content and self censor. Which I still don't see why people are up in arms about it anyway because Apple can do whatever they want.

Well there are social justice warriors and then there are social justice weasels.

I basically see it as the difference between a chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal raisin cookie.

History is written by the victor, the north was just as deplorable as the south was.

No, it wasn't.

Slavery was illegal in most of the north with the exception of Delaware and New Jersey, which combined held fewer than 2,000 slaves in 1860....compared to millions that were held in Confederate states.

The United States also never went to war in an attempt to keep a large segment of its populace bound in chains, while the Confederacy did.

The northern states certainly weren't Shangri-La, and racism existed there just as it did in the south. But to argue that both the Union and the Confederacy were morally equivalent is to be intellectually dishonest and to ignore the historical record.

Having said all the above, I think it is poor judgement and overreaction to ban the portrayal of Confederate flags in games such as a Civil War RTS. But Apple has a right to do so, no matter how ridiculous. Also what I find more troubling than Apple's ham-fisted political correctness, is the Neo-Confederates coming out of the woodwork to defend the indefensible.

The freed blacks in the northern territories were omitted from the draft thus the whites did not like that by a long shot because most of them couldn't afford the 300 dollar fee for being exempt from the draft. Thus a four day riot occurred where some blacks were lynched around Manhattan, also 100s of others were assaulted and orphanages were burned to the ground. It's called the New York City Draft Riots of 1863.

I know. I just wanted to provide an example to anyone else reading. Mostly cause I'm a history buff.

Have you seen Gerogia's state flag?

flag10ga.gif

look familiar?

us-csa.gif

I think Georgia gets away with it because the Stars & Bars is less familiar to a lot of people than the Confederate battle flag. In changing their state's flags they basically did nothing...switching from one design based on a Confederate flag to another. But because the Stars & Bars are less recognizable, it garners slightly less criticism. (though it isn't entirely without controversy)

Same with Florida, I noticed.

Well, their coast is extremely dumb... but in a better way.

A good 85% of Florida is a coast (until you hit the Keys, then literally everything is a coast), around every part that isn't bordering Alabama and Georgia. The only part tied to the mainland is the northern tip, which is largely backwoods rednecks in my experience. The further south you go, it's more tropical and has a more congested urban sprawl with a lot of major towns being near beaches.

.... That's the funny thing about Florida. It may as well be 2 separate states, with how radically different the north is from the south. For most of the United States, the further south you go, the more stereotypically "country" it gets. For Florida, it's the polar opposite. The north is backwoods rednecks who probably inbreed, and the south is mid-upper class white people and a healthy helping of Hispanic immigrants (typically Cuban down around Miami, since Florida is less than 500 miles from Cuba) and drug dealers. Luckily, I live on the southern part of that regional divide but not all that far down, so I don't have a particularly high number of either the rednecks or the cocaine smugglers.

This hysteria over a flag.....

What about TV shows? Dukes Of Hazard anyone?

They'd have to ban that too for the car the General Lee

What do you mean "have to"? they did it.

What I find odd is that everyone is getting upset at a battle flag... Yet, much worse things have been committed under ours. Shouldn't we ban the USA flag as well?

The thing is apple is non political. They do not have an alignment and they will make decisions based on how they can maximize the profits. If I was hosting an app on my store hell yeah I would remove it, I would remove anything that would hurt my income. I would make my decisions based on that

I don't know why anyone would defend or stand with that flag anyway.

The Civil War was basically like picking a fight with your kitchen. You aren't going to win that, that's where the important stuff is. I wouldn't fight my kitchen.

But Trillary, that makes a modicum of sense. Obvs it's SJW catering because of Apple's political and social agenda.

Tim Cook is running for pres in 2020 btw.

Although seriously. I don't know how much of a seller confederate themed or use of the confederate flag is as a big money haul for Apple. I doubt it's really much. Then again it's probably better press (and potential retention of profits) to publicly disassociate themselves from it. Though I'd argue it's probably not that much as well. So it's still kind of pointless or can be argued as such.

Pffff. Yeah, unless you were unlucky enough to live in the Pacific, or the Caribbean, or Mexico.
