As of nasty and/or passionate as some fans here are I can't fault BioWare devs for not wanting to post here. I don't post here as much as I would like because the toxicity level here is sky high. I mean when devs would rather talk to fans on twitter or youtube comments than through it's own forums because of the toxicity is so bad then these boards has some serious problems.
That's like saying "I don't like cooking in this kitchen, it's disgustingly dirty!" after one stopped caring for it years ago and avoided doing the dishes for months.
No forum this big can moderate itself. No community this big will always be positive. These things require moderators and a lot of work. Even so, this forum isn't toxic. I really don't know why people repeat that again and again, it's just not true. There were some individuals that were disruptive, obtuse, hateful and mean. Do you think we should judge the entire community because of the actions of a few? When we have zero influence on them?
Relatively, these forums are nice, sweet, cuddly, understanding and accepting. We can talk constructively about LGBT, feminism, sexual practices and some really controversial topics in games here and for the most part the discussions remain civil. Want to try that anywhere else?
I'm not saying the mods here do a bad job... but their actions are very limited. I don't know if that's by design or because of other constraints but sometimes it would be better if they offered some explanations or reminded people of the board rules before suspending them. I wouldn't mind posting guidelines for the feedback forums, that way the devs could get better information.
In any case, an active community manager would change a lot.
