I find that in certain cases it can add a layer of realism and depth to the romance, if it's well done and not gratuitous.

I haven't seen any Cassandra scene. Use your words, imagination and way of speaking to make an example. ![]()

Inquisitor read poem from book to Cass. Later Inquisitor and Cass lie on grass naked you can see only upper body. They talk about stuff, later Cass jumps on Inquisitor. Scene ends.

How is that gratuitous? They had sex, and unlike Mass Effect 3, no clothes are involved.
They were saying that scene is an example of when it isn't gratuitous, not an example of when it is.
No nudity. Simple.
Cassandra's scene. Thoughts?
it's gratuitous because of the two men having sex in that scene

Fan service, like metal bikini armour I find to be gratuitous. A full fledged full frontal sex scene complete with penetration would be gratuitous.Define "not gratuitous nudity". In what context and by how it is portrayed.
In DAI we had some boobshots. Perhaps in MEA we can get buttshots? I would enjoy some male butts - females are good as well but after Miri I think we've got enough of this kind of assets.
As for romance: I would prefer naked (or not) hugging AFTER everything. I don't want awkward humping. They might lay in bed together, take shower together or even start dressing up and then cheek kissing. Nudity - fine. Awkward "sex" - not so fine.
Yeah, definitely don't want humping, that is a great point. Tasteful nudity and romance, not porn is what's needed. In DAI we had some boobshots. Perhaps in MEA we can get buttshots? What did you think of Dorian's butt?
It was just like your post - I liked it.

I don't want any more romantic vanilla love making, I'd like some rough sex. Fade to black is good enough for me, one can work with that. Not Bull BDSM but you know .... I've about had it of all the cuddling
I'd be okay with a bit of a rougher / pouncing make-out session and then fade to black, it could be quite fun. Soft romantic scenes are all well and good and have their place, but so do more intense scenes.I don't want any more romantic vanilla love making, I'd like some rough sex. Well, as I recall DA:I was the first game of BioWare (haven't played games before origins/ME 1 except Kotor) with actual nudity in it. Do you think it was a good move of BioWare as it of course i an adult franchise and do you think they should put it also in the new Mass Effect?
I think they should worry less with nudity and swear words and more with a believable adult plot and characters.

I kinda agree. Iron Bull was like a cookie that you can smell but you can't see. I'm not big fan but there are people that want it so why not? Just give me signs that it won't be all sweet.
Speaking of controversies and criticism over nudity...
Why is it that the use of nudity for body horror is so rarely signaled out? Whenever we've had threads on these boards asking for less mature content, or toggles, it is always the nudity in the sex scenes that is criticized. I wonder if that's a Victorian era relic, where sex and the nude body are seen as shameful. Does the body horror slip by without criticism because it portrays the nude human form (or something resembling it) as something monstrous?
I don't like it then either. Especially because most times, in Bioware games at least, it doesn't make sense.
Broodmother: Every other part of their body is morphed, so why do their breasts remain? And why not only that, but get more of them? Darkspawn are sexless and don't reproduce sexually, so they can't find it attractive, and baby Darkspawn don't nurse so it isn't for biological reasons.
Banshees: While they come from Asari, again their body is extremely warped in the transformation process like making them suddenly giants. And Husks are made from humans which have similar parts, and yet they don't have breasts or genitals so why do Banshees?
It is a bit soulless and not very cinematic.
I'd say there's as much soul as you put into it.
Making it too cinematic, and it becomes less a story and more voyeurism.
This one of the thinks why video games are better than books. We don't need to imagine how Thresher maw can take down Reaper, we can see it.
Shepard walks in and see Kai Leng, fade to black Kai Leng on ground dead, you can imagine how fight happened.
Have you ever read a book, seen the film adaptation, and go "That's now how I imagined that scene"?
Cassandra's scene. Thoughts?
Completely unnecessary. Made worse by the fact that the scene was unskippable.

The scene. Not the thoughts
I dunno. I thought it was really good. It wasn't explicit, it wasn't voyeuristic. It was intimate and revealing, though. And "adult" in the best sense of the word. Not ridiculous like most of the other post-ME1 scenes have been (ME1 was the high point until Inquisition, I think).
What about Dorian's scene? I thought that was another pretty good one.

Actually, I did think it was kinda voyeuristic, watching Cassandra like that. Worse, the scene had dialogue, so it wasn't skippable.
Dorian is better in that you don't have to have sex with him to keep the romance going. Blackwall's too.

Which is good, too. I think offering some alternate romance paths that don't necessarily end with that payoff is a good approach as well. Blackwall's romance might be just about my favorite in any recent Bioware game, in fact.
It's a bit worrying how people are saying the act of showing sex is porn.
I'd say there's as much soul as you put into it.
I agree. Both Garrus' and Tali's romances did the fade to black method, and both of those had soul in them. Same with some of the DA2 romances.
It's a bit worrying how people are saying the act of showing sex is porn.
WHo, exactly, is saying that?
THough to be fair there are some people (who might or might not be trolling) who are asking fro what is, essentially porn.
