I never get ESRB Mature rating. You get more nudity and sex in any fluffy chic lit or teen movie on average that probably rank it as EXTREME by their standards (Think of ALL the children)

If you're a five years old who has never seen bewbs before, sure, it could be distracting, and then you would be right.
That scene and the nudity doesn't take anything away from it. It feels natural, because it is natural.
Yeah i'd praise that Cassandra scene as being brave enough to reflect what should be natural in that scenario rather than shying away. Added to success rather than took away from it imo.
I tried this once to see if it worked, and my fingers instinctively spread open. There's just nothing I can do about it.
Reminds me of when your parents tell you to cover your eyes in scary movie or to look away. You will do it, but somehow manage to sneak a peek anyway. Curiosity is healthy.

Not if you're curious about what will happen if you poke a tiger in the eye.
Thats curiosity plus stupidity, not a good combination.

How are you supposed to know if it is stupidity or not until you have tried it? ![]()
North Amerika is the dominant culture and leads the western allies what is appropriate and not, sex included.
Living in Europe I find it sad the import of the USA culture to replace my own.
You know you want it. If you didn't, you wouldn't entertain or be entertained by it.
('You' being a collective, of course.)
It could be worse. Be thankful you don't have to live here.
Having lived in a country with honor killings for pre-marital sex and in which people half-heartedly tried to kill me more times than I care to remember, I'm quite thankful to be living in North America.
Plus, pizza is always 30 minutes or less away from being delivered to my door. That's civilization right there.
^To be fair Dean, in some cases, having pizza within range can be seen as a detriment; there are some bad pizza restaurants out there.
But all things aren't equal. The whole reason we're having a thread here is that some of us find those restrictions annoying. Living under your restrictions makes things worse for us.
What part of "skippable nudity" makes things worse for those who want it?
Aren't more options a good thing?
I don't think the bolded is really true. They're really just a very vocal minority, and mostly centered in the Bible Belt.
I can see how Europeans might come away with the impression that it is a commonly held view in America, but it's as alien a viewpoint in much of the country (the major urban areas, the Northeast, West Coast, ect) as it is in much of Europe. The religious right is a minority that manages sadly to punch well above it's weight. Part of it is that they're highly motivated and political, and often turn out in larger percentages at elections than the more apathetic majority that thinks they're bonkers.
Well, its partly the vocal religious right, but I think there's a more larger group that doesn't hold such a negative view of sex but sees it as something to be kept in the bedroom, not on display where children might see it.
Video games get particular flak for it because they're still seen as children's toys by most of the population that doesn't play video games in the US

All cutscenes should be skippable, whether or not they involve nudity.
I don't think scenes that do include nudity need special filters however that blocks only the nudity. Allow the person to skip the sex scene entirely or avoid it through dialogue if a nude bum or sideboob offends, but don't waste development time and resources on a special feature that benefits only a tiny but vocal minority of fans. Those resources are much better spent elsewhere.

That is a good point, and you're right.
Thankfully that is changing. You now have 30 and 40 year olds who grew up with gaming consoles. I think the mindset of video games only being toys for kids is primarily limited to older folks who grew up before video games were big. In another decade or two that mindset will probably be gone.

This reminds me of that old joke: "Pizza is like sex. When it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's still pretty good."
I want nudity,YES! Absolutely! Yes,sir! I really do...it's 2016 now.It doesn't have to be full frontal or something too risky (we could get it from the fan mods anyway)...but I want to see reality! Not everybody making love in a space armor with the lights off...I want to see some reality, that's all. Just a little glimpse would be enough, because bodies are beauuuutiful!

I think you're largely right although that perception may be slowly changing. I'm 47, childless, and I want some movies, tv, shows that can cater to me. I am frustrated by this insistence on "the children must not see it!" Fine, put them to bed by 10 pm and understand that not every movie or video game is for them. It's always the responsibility of the company and not the parent to do this job and I am sick of it!
I don't need x-rated sex scenes in my BioWare games but I sure as heck don't mind a love scene between two characters that has a plausible bit of skin to it.
That is a good point, and you're right.

Even so, many people that did grow up with video games do actually stop playing them when they get older. I'm only in my twenties and I see myself playing games for the rest of my life, but my twin brother has stopped playing completely.
I'm certain the mindset will go away, but I think it'll take a bit longer than you think.
I actually don't want any more nudity than was in ME1, which wasn't anything really. It left more to the imagination than anything really. If they put it in, fine.

It's the extreme right (It's a sin! Think of the children!) AND the extreme, regressive left (It's offensive, triggering, sexist! Think of the womyn!) Usually by people ironically saying "gaming needs to grow up."
Let's not pretend that this kind of stuff is only coming from the Jack Thompsons of the world, and not the Anita Sarkeesians as well.

I don't think Anita or feminist critics of video games are against sex in video games but against how sex has been handled thus far i.e. for male gaze and leering. There are ways to handle romance and sex in a fair way that is charitable to both genders and mature.

Does anyone think the people who designed Miranda, Samara, or Jacob's outfits can handle romance and sex maturely?

Sure. Anyone can turn over a new-leaf and I thought it was handled pretty well in DAI (with the possible exception of Iron Bull).
From what I've seen of Anita, she regards just about any expression of sexuality from a female character as negative and reducing her to a sex object. She's gotten flak from sex-positive feminists and critics for her attitude.I don't think Anita or feminist critics of video games are against sex in video games but against how sex has been handled thus far i.e. for male gaze and leering. Hmm hadn't noticed she'd carried it that far. Well she's a voice but I think people give her too much power or mistake criticism for actual authority.
This reminds me of that old joke: "Pizza is like sex. When it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's still pretty good."
Don't really get that old joke. ( I'm a foreigner, so maybe that's why. ) But sex when it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's bad actually.
I prefer the joke of Isabela closer to reality. Sex is good when done very well, but it can make you sick if it is done badly. Not sure how she says it in english though.
This is the woman that complained about Ms. Pac-Man's bow because it was a "gender signifier"Hmm hadn't noticed she'd carried it that far. Well she's a voice but I think people give her too much power or mistake criticism for actual authority.
