"you should probably stick with E rated games.."

Well, it certainly better to stick to E rated games than to try to subvert an existing franchise with a solid M rating because it should be a "safe space".

(is this the right expression?)

And here you have an excuse to chug another I suppose.

"If the content listed in the ESRB sounds like content that would offend you, you should take that into account before choosing to buy the game."

Nudity is not an issue in E rated games.. therefore no one will be offended.. But if you purchase an M rated game with the knowledge that Nudity will be involved and then after the fact say, "well I am offended and all romance scenes should be thrown out" isn't fair either.. This has nothing to do with calling someone childish, this is regarding offensive nature of M rated games.. If you're easily offended than E rated would be the most beneficial option to you as with most M rated games, you will probably be offended in some way...

There are people whom either because of biology, upbringing, or other factors have relationships that don't involve sex, so it would be nice for them to have romances where sex is either optional, left ambiguous, or just not part of the romance just like it would be nice for people whose relationships do involve sex have romances that do as well.

Which is fine and I can respect those belief systems, however, if you truly believe that and are purchasing an M rated game with the knowledge of nude content it seems a little contradictory. "I don't believe in/offended by nudity but I will buy this game anyway" And as I mention before, there are characters such as Tali, Solas and Josephine that have no nudity in their scenes, but it is unfair to say that just because you were offended by something that you were fully aware of before your purchase should be thrown out..

I've never said such scenes should be thrown out, so I don't know why you think I have. While I would prefer they not have them, I know others enjoy it and don't want to deprive them of it. The only time I really have an issue is when it is mandatory and unskippable.

I know they have had romances where it is optional(like in ME1) or ambiguous(Josephine, Kelly, and Solas), I just would like them to continue having those kinds rather than all having explicit sex scenes.

I was referring to the people that are offended by nudity as a whole, not specifically you.. I really wish you wouldn't take my opinions so personally lol.. I have honestly seen more posts about people being offended versus people wanting improved romance scenes, and the topic of removing the nudity and romance scenes completely has been brought up by numerous people throughout the forums. Just as when you say "what makes you so special" I do not take this personally because I am aware I am not the only one with the opinion I have and I hope that you can take it the same way rather than feel that I am only referring to you. I only have an issue with people becoming offended by something they knew was in the game.. If you know it's there and that you may be offended, then why purchase the product and then complain that you were offended by the material and request that the material that offended you be removed completely?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's a misunderstanding going on. I think people like Hanako Ikezawa and Iakus are merely asking for a dialogue option that would allow them to avoid bed scenes but maintain romantic relationships, which, I think, is not something new in BioWare games at all. Simple, "I care about you, but this is not a good time," or what have you. Personally, I enjoy how the bed scenes were done in DAI very much. (Well, I've romanced Cullen so far. I think the love scene is very sweet. I actually found it a little strange that Lavellan was already dressed by the time the pillow talk occurred. I still thought it was sweet and I like it. I'm on my way to romance Cassandra now. No issues with the idea of seeing her naked.) But you know what? I don't think that's a bad idea at all. Making one extra dialogue option with the appropriate response from NPCs where necessary can't possibly take so much work and everybody gets what they want. Everybody's happy.

Things

Wait so what i can gather you don't want sex/nudity, swearing, violence or (I'm inferring from wanting soda) drinking in the game.

Why exactly do you play mass effect? It can't be for the plot.

No, it was both of these things.

The key word is in your opinion. In my opinion TW3's scenes were laughably bad and unclassy.

If that is your opinion on the love scenes in DA:I and TW3, you must have a very difficult time watching any movie with an R rating and a significant romance subplot.

The scenes in both of those games were neither gratuitous or more graphic than what you'd see in a typical Hollywood film.

Why shouldn't I pursue romance storylines?  I happen to like love stories.  But you know what?  Love=/=sex.  And it's kinda distressing that more and more people seem to think of them as one and the same.  A love story, even a "mature" one, doesn't require a money shot

I liked romancing Ashley in ME1.  But you know what?  SHe and Shepard don't have to sleep together.  Shepard could always turn her down and the romance would still complete.  Or I could have them sleep together, but I could hit a button and not see anything if I didn't want to.  Or I could let the scene play out and see it all.  Options for everyone!  Can't have that now, can we?

Believe me, I intend to put MEA under a microscope, and at this point anm inclined not to buy it, but not for nudity or lack of it.

Oh, and I resent that you think lack of nudity is equated with "laziness"

I've never said love equals sex, not even once, but that I don't get the fuss over it when it's something that has been done for years now in Bioware games, and actually being improved since then.

I find odd to believe that the romances continue when it doesn't get really locked before the love scene, before that point, they weren't even dating, and if they do after the main story is done, then you just missed a crucial part of the relationship, so that makes zero sense.

Lack of nudity doesn't mean laziness, read that paragraph once again, the lack of well done love scenes is laziness aka DAO, DA2 and ME3.

I would put ME2 among that list, but at least those scenes end before they get kinky.

Not in ME1. Shepard can turn down Kaidan, Ash, and Liara on the way to Ilos, and the romance still locks in.

Already addressed that.

I do wonder how many people would change their opinion on nudity if BioWare decided it was to include everything and not just "here's some bewbs, and maybe the occasional butt".

That would be gratuitous.

Nudity doesn't offend me. It being gratuitous would. Or rather, I'd be offended that the devs apparently think their average player is a man child.

No that would be like cheesy B movie a skin flick. mass effect dos not need to debase its self for horny teenagers.

I don't want my characters doing those things. I would prefer they not be in at all, but as long as I can avoid those things with my character then I can tolerate it, just like real life.

I play Mass Effect because I love science fiction and Bioware has created an interesting world with good characters and plot.

I do. But with movies at least there is always the fast forward button.

Though I disagree. Typical Hollywood films don't have sex scenes to the extent of the Witcher. The sex scenes in ME1 and ME3 are what typical Hollywood movies have. Even rated R ones.

There has been absolutely nothing wrong with how the ME team has handled the "cinematic" romance scenes in any of the games so far in my opinion so no need to change that approach

On a side note, its rather hilarious the topics that gain the most attention on these boards

Have you seen the love scenes in The Witcher 3 or are you operating on assumption, based on the reputation the series gained with TW2?

The romance scenes in TW3 are a little more tame than TW2 and aren't more graphic than the scenes in DA:I. Slightly longer perhaps, but they're also more romantic than DA:I's love scenes. In fact there's more romance in even Geralt's dalliances with side characters than there is in entire romance arcs with full love interests in DA:I.
