Freedom of speech is allowed only if you are an "oppressed minority", otherwise everyone needs their "safe space" and you shouldn't hurt their feelings, no matter what kind of BS they are spouting in the name of one mass delusion or another. Using logic is especially offensive.

The amendments say or support a lot of imbecilities, usually.

^ Still doesn't understand what the First Amendment actually says....... <sigh>
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as one of the ten amendments that constitute the Bill of Rights.

Oh, I understand perfectly.
Freedom of speech is essentially there to prevent an ideological tyranny, and ideological tyranny can come from unexpected sources as well as obvious ones.
It certainly isn't there to allow extremists (of any kind) to verbally rampage and propagate violence and hate.
Nor is it there to allow certain political groups to dominate the conversation by silencing all other voices.

Unless the U.S. Government has made any laws about how you "can't hurt anyone's feelings" or against "using logic", then this isn't a First Amendment situation.......

Freedom of speech, even outside of the First Amendment, is related to government regulation of speech. Unless you are taking a Greek philosophical usage of the phrase, in which case, it's still being applied incorrectly.
But I should probably stop before more QQing ensues about how mean nasty people are restricting "freedom of speech" on the boards...... ![]()

Are you a lawyer?
I originally didn't even mention any laws or amendments, hell, I'm not even an American.
Freedom of speech is a basic idea of democracy, not just a law.
If your counter argument is to say that "that's not the real law" you are truly desperate.
Of course that's not the law, but that's what it was twisted into.
And by the way, slowly but surely the law itself changes in this direction as well, at least in certain places.
An example would be a certain law in NY that allows authorities to fine up to a 250k USD a person who used an "incorrect pronoun" when referring
to a transgender person, the specifics are somewhat vague.
That seems to me just a tiny bit extreme, but you would probably disagree. Right?

Freedom of speech is an inalienable human right. Rights can potentially be infringed upon by individuals or by government.

And prostitution is legalized in Nevada so it's not all bad. But some countries are better with sexuality a hell of a lot better than the U.S.

Well if we're taking this thread to a political stand point.. Bioware has the freedom of expression and should not have to cut nudity because a few dislike, disagree, or are offended by the content.. At the end of the day, Bioware is the developer of the game and their decisions on where to take this game is up to them... ![]()

I think they'll do it because they have been outmatched by Witcher. As long there is no underwear involved in sex scenes and no fade to black bs, I think they can pull it off.

Sure, they are free to make their own decisions. Just as they were free to make the ME3 endings.
But I'd say that allowing more options will draw more people than allowing fewer options.

If 1,144 posts (to date) on this thread have not yet covered every thought that one can say about nudity scenes in Andromeda, then I'd be surprised. This thread should be closed. And those who are bickering here should be blocked from posting anything on these forums for a month.

Exactly. Those who don't any nudity shouldn't buy those games, easy as that.
Thank you, move along.
