In what way, shape, or form was it tasteful? There are a couple scenes I could see being such, but the vast majority certainly weren't.

The moaning and grunting in the Witcher scenes are cringeworthy.

 

I'd take some moaning and grunting over silent starring all day. The Witcher 3 scenes were slightly exaggerated in terms of moaning and groaning, but moaning is certainly not a strange thing to happen during sex. At least not in the "heavy breathing" audibility.

 

Your argument of them being "poorly designed" only holds ground if you believe that they weren't exaggerated on purpose. Representing "actual" sex on screen would be very sluggish and really not help the point. Making such scenes in fiction more passionate than some real life encounters is a normal thing.

They were exaggerated for the "medieval fantasy" effect. I'll go as far as to say that they were developed exactly like that because CD Projekt was trying to cash in on horny teenagers as well as joking about their own approach of sexual encounters in the first two games.

I remembered its still underwear and fade out sex in The Witcher 3. 

 

I guess one day, they will show actual genitals in games... or pubic hair at least.

 

There was definitely pubic hair shown in TW2.  Triss is show full-frontal with her breasts and pubic hair showing in the first scene between her and Geralt in that game.  I never played TW3, so I can't speak to that.

They are longer to watch and more satisfactory for one, and it's more fun than DA that's for sure. And the best of all: No underwear in their sex scenes! I admired that CD Projekt takes sexuality to a whole another level and not being ashamed of showing it unlike most developers.

In the second one, Geralt initially wakes up on his pants while Triss is fully naked, the rest of the game's sex scenes have no clothes or whatsoever.

It's funny people always mention how the penis is never shown in games, but full frontal female nudity is. I have played three games in which you see a penis (one of which is an extended scene than runs for multiple minutes. I have never seen the explicit depiction of a vagina in a videogame, ever. (The top end of somebodies pubic region is not full frontal nudity really, as you don't see genitalia, which leaves Triss out of the running.)
