Scotland can informally refer to potatoes as tatties, like other places refer to them as taters. Tattie is also Hindi for a screen placed in a door or window that when moist helps cool and deodorize a room.

I wouldn't mind nudity like DA:I again. Or actually ME1, just do it where it makes sense.

 

And if there are damn clubs/bars with strippers/exotic dancers then... have varying levels of nudity to make it believable. Aliens, humans... whatever.

Honestly, I'd be happy if the romance scenes for all companions were at the same level of quality. Besides Liara in ME3, the rest were absolutely terrible:

You don't absolutely have to show breasts and nipples in order to provide an intimate and romantic moment. That being said, it can also be done quite well. TW3 had some notable romance moments with Triss in the lighthouse, Yen on the stuffed horse and kaer morhen, etc.

 

There are ways of showing nudity in a respectful way that moves the story and character development forward without it just being softcore porn.

I agree for the most part. But one would think that people would be more interested in fundamentally improving the romance mechanic beyond it's initial implementation which has changed very little throughout the years, except to add nudity and a greater emphasis on the mechanic itself. I think what's needed is not more or less nudity, but more complexity.

I absolutely agree. Instead of the 10 second nude scene, I'm much more interested in a believable and genuine relationship develop. BioWare games have always been simplistic in the fact that if you play long enough and talk a companion's ear off long enough you'll end up in bed with them. They've tried to further refine it by adding affection/inspiration and whether the companion likes your choices as well as the loyalty missions. Relationships are still far too simplistic for my tastes. I want this relationship to actually build through the experiences in the game and how we become stronger - or weaker - as a result. I'm not asking for this to be a dating simulation. But, I do believe it would be far more satisfying and we are more likely to care about these characters if we feel as if this relationship is real.

I think improvement in other areas is undermined by the ridiculous heart-shaped icon in the dialogue wheel and how quickly it appears now. Within the first half hour of Inquisition I was able to go down the romance path with people I had just met and had never even talked to before.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Romance has more or less become blatant fan service because BioWare knows some fans want it and they can't get enough of it. However, I think it's important to note I didn't remember any of the romance scenes or even the dialogue from DAI. It was that forgettable to me. Whereas in other games, that actually build genuine relationships, for example Bioshock Infinite, which doesn't even have to be romantic or sexual, I remember those clearly.

 

It's not quantity that matters, but quality. TW3 has done a great job of building Geralt and Triss' relationship over three games and you really have become familiar with the character that you generally care for her. It's not the same way in DAI where I really just don't care about the companions at all. I cared far more for Leliana and she has such a minor role in the game.

 

I think BioWare just needs to take a step back, stop trying to throw in gratuity and fan service like this is Game of Thrones, and really work on building relationships and friendships with these characters.
