It's not "all about sex."  I just think the games were better when it was more tasteful and didn't have nudity in them.  I would prefer a more emotionally powerful "romance scene" instead of something that resembles a one-night stand.

 

I'm not quite sure I understand that argument. People are usually nude during sex regardless of whether its just a one night stand or they're involved in a monogamous relationship.

 

I'm not necessarily saying that sex scenes need to include nudity, but I also don't think the inclusion of it automatically makes a scene less emotionally impactful.

I totally don't see how that works. It's kinda like you're implying Bioware now spends so much time rendering body parts they forgot to make a good game or something.

Whether a romance scene involves nudity has zilch to do with the quality of the game.

Most of the romances resemble a one night stand, regardless of them being full on nudity or clothed dry humping in the engine room.

 

BioWare romance has traditionally been: select various flirt options > wait until just before final mission > bang in commander's room > conversation about it afterwards > see you next game for the same thing.

I actually agree with you here.  You remember the scene in ME:1 with Liara?  It was partially nude(ish) but was also very powerful.  My whole point is that I personally don't want BioWare to go the way of The Witcher.  I've never really been a fan of nudity in a game.  Just my opinion though.

The Wicher is a little more provocative than Mass Effect. I didn't mind it with major characters like Yen or Triss, but I can definitely see how that wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

True. For all of the criticisms I have for Inquisition, it did companions really well.

 

I don't necessarily need full nudity, just as long as they don't return to the Origins/ME2 era of having our characters going at it with underwear or full clothes still on. That's just silly and ridiculous looking.

Am I the only one who thought Traynor showering in her bathingsuit made perfect sense? I didn't think it was strange until I saw all the hate this scene was getting.

 

 

She was using her boss's unlockable open shower. I sure as hell wouldn't shower naked where my boss could possibly see me.

 

Also I think it suited her personality: she was obsessed with her toothbrush and showered in a bathingsuit in communal showers 

 

Shepard's cabin's bathroom has a door that opens and closes. The fact that the door was open during that scene, I'm willing to forgive given that she was trying to seduce Shepard, but if it was really an issue, she could have closed the door.

Also, and this is just me, but I personally find the suggestion that including nudity in a work automatically makes it less tasteful to be rather offensive. 

 

Yes, the use of nudity can be gratuitous and tasteless, and yes, it often is. But the idea that it's inclusion automatically reduces the quality of something really speaks volumes about the cultural perception of the human body.

Well the scene after the party and Garrus wears full body armor was really weird. Yeah we totally had hot sex...dude you are wearing armor. Tali, ok, it´s a necessity for her to wear the suit.

I don't see the problem with it as long as it's not gratuitous (i.e. the infamous "Investigate" Miranda camera angle from ME2).
