Wanting better and more realistic sex scenes has nothing to do with dating sim. Scenes which consists of people having sex in undies and showering with their clothes on looks incredibly silly and unrealistically and it takes away the realism of the game. Yes I know it's "just" a game and not real life and space magic happens but I still expect a certain reality in it, most people do I think.

This thread has gone so far beyond simply asking for not having sex while showering in underwear =P

But what if I wanna be a paragon and be a dynamite in the sack?

Yep.  I think that if people think paragon = vanilla sex, they haven't been doing it right.....

I get that, but does it have to be anything more than what DA:I offered? Which was nudity. I am interested in the romances from time to time, if they are well written and acted, but my Interest in watching sex on screen is kind of limited. So make the scene interesting from a writing perspective, make it matter. Not just sex, because hey sex!

What's wrong with sex?

I think since its an M rated game then yes, it could and should be a bit more. I'm not saying porn but it can be done tastefully. DAI was nothing imo. it was in the right direction yes but still a long way from doing it right. You could hardly see anything in the scenes, I think only one or two romances showed a glimpse of female inquisitor naked body for a second and then Dorians butt or something. I wouldn't say that's enough. But hey, that's just me. I like it when things are realistically done and when I buy a M rated game i expect there to be potentially nudity or violence.

I've said it before, but there has never been a "love scene" in any game that I would want to watch with another human being in the room, and that includes my better half, who plays mostly the same games I do. And that emphatically includes more recent games, where it still looks like a couple of dead eyed video game characters clipping into each other.

I have no hang-ups about the nudity, and I prefer it being sensibly present than not (especially if the alternative is what we got in DAO and ME2), but I'm not playing these games for titillation. I much prefer the scenes in DAI to anything else we've had in any other game.

Nothing? I don't think i said so either. Sex is natural, people have it etc. I don't think it is an interesting storytelling device though, but that is just me. I am interested in the story, and like i said earlier, do please tell something wtih the scene you are doing. Like the Cullen scene was more about the Lyrium addiction than actually having sex for the first time in the relationship.

Tastefully like Mass Effect then? The first one that is. Lots of skin, but no naughty bits? Or full frontal?

Mass Effect is FAR from being tastefully when it comes to nudity and sex (well they're fan-made NSFW versions of them) and I think they should work on showing sex scenes and not being ashamed to see them making love, I say go for it I believe if they can pull this off it might be better or equal to Witcher romance and sexuallity.

Well I think it can be done tastefully even if they show full frontal. It all depends on the writers and how they write the romances. I'd be satisfied even with a longer version of the kind they did with the ME1 ones though, that would at least be something too but I hope for more, that they are more daring xD

I actually think the first ME game is the gold standard for it.

The Witcher as a series doesn't have a great track record. See above about dead-eyed video game characters clipping into each other (forget about the cards from the first game). That approach is better than some (and preferable to the sort of scenes we got in DAO and ME2, for sure), but it still comes across as a little ridiculous.

The first ME sex scenes move way too fast and the end scene is ridiculous. Shepard put his/her clothes on and stepped out the bed like "Oh God what have I done?" They should really work on sex with ME a lot note to be erotic, sensual, and arousing, not wearing underwear cuddling and kissing. and Witcher is better with certain sex scenes that caught my eye and did a good job with them too makes DA romance looks like a joke in comparison.

Where did I defend the underwear? That's why ME1 is better than most. There's no out of place underwear. There's no awkwardly animated full frame screwing either.

DAI still does it best - better than ME1. The scenes provide characterization and exposition, and manage to be at least somewhat adult and mature without being gratuitous.

I'd rather ME's developers don't flat out go fishing for boners, personally. If that's why you're playing, I guess that's fine? Although if you find TW's content to be erotic, sensual, or arousing, I have questions.

That was rhetorical. I really don't want to know.

YOu realize that the majority of M-rated games out there have no nudity whatsoever, right?

I do. I never claimed they had nudity, I simply said that one should expect that it could be possible.

I think I like ME1's better, given that you can turn down sex for all the LIs without breaking the romance, and you had the option of skipping past the sex scene if you wanted.

DAI had some of that, but it wasn't an option for all LIs.

You know what would be perfect. Alternate sex scenes.. based on your morality! If you skew to paragon, you get super vanilla and if you skew to renegade, you get super kinky sexy scenes, the middle ground is the exclusive where you must complete certain relationship sequence to unlock. This would be revolutionary.

They need to hire Lady Tlaero.

A talented writer of adult interactive stories/dating sims. Look her up on the-new-lagoon.com (or google 'Dreaming with Elsa' and 'Redemption for Jessika').

Is that really unique to videogames though. I remember watching the Running Scared remake with my sister and her boyfriend. Awkward. LOL. There is a sex scene in the film that is borderline softcore porn if I recall correctly. I made a joke about it afterward and we had a good laugh about it. But seriously, I don't wish to do that again.

I would say that they considering that they made those scenes with their game engine and not some separate CGI wizardry, they did rather well.

There's room for improvement of course, but it's not as wooden and laughable as it is in DA:2 and DA:I.

(what with all the clipping and twisting due to various races that need to be worked into the scene)
