Hey if you see a label that says strong sexual content, nudity, and sexual themes you're going you're going to see everything what it says. Mature games, movies, and shows are meant to show mature content for adults especially where sex is involved. I don't see what the big deal is about seeing adult men and women doing sexual acts and we do it all the time. It's not the sexual content itself mind you, it's how they use sexual content that matters whether to respect it by keeping it in moderation or abuse it by adding degradation and twisting sexuality like what pornography does. It's the context; how they're showing it not sexual content itself. And why not add them to mature games anyway? As long as they don't go all XXX (unless it's A for adults)

This in no way, shape, or form addresses my post or contributes to the conversation.

That depends entirely on the story being told. Besides, one could easily preempt that pointless statement from the other side in saying that clothes and chastity do not necessarily 'improve' storytelling. It's just nonsense.

Sure they can, at least for video games. Not needing to devote resources to nude models and sex scenes means those resources can go to other parts of the game, like the story thus potentially improving it.

They were in front of an audience?

They were in front of the player, weren't they?

Need I remind you that many many M rated games don't have sex or nudity at all?

Except that's not how resources work

They were in front of the player, weren't they?

Unless the players themselves were in the game watching them in the woods, it doesn't count

The player was watching through the screen.  Close enough.

And again, that would depend entirely on the story being told.

No it's not and it honestly sounds ridiculous trying to make it out that way

So what?

So a mature game doesn't require it.

So in that case if you watch a film that has someone bring murdered you are watching a snuff film.

Ok I got a little off sorry about that. Not improving mature games by adding sexuality and nudity per se, just add a little sugar and spice on nudity and sexual content of games that do have that type of content.

Not at all. It is using your example of saying a sex scene is voyeuristic if the player watches it, by the same token if you watch someone get murdered you a spying / viewing the murder for entertainment, I. E. a snuff film.
You can't have it both ways.

There is no "especially" about it.  You don't need sex or nudity in an M rated game.

Please go back to my original statement:

Sex scenes, imo, feel too much like voyeurism.

Please note the imo and "feel"  I never said "is" I said it's what it feel like to me.  This is my own opinion.  I am not stating an absolute, despite your ridiculous (not to mention rather sick) attempt at a parallel.

I'm not saying that all mature games should have sexual content. I'm saying certain mature games are meant to show mature content and sex for adult audiences in general, it doesn't mean that every game should have them to make it mature.

I've made no such statement Iakus (perhaps you're confusing me with someone else)?

So why should Mass Effect have it?  Bioware games already get accused of being dating simulators.  How would nudity of depictions of sex improve the game at all when simply avoiding scenes of awkward underwear sex would accomplish just as much if not more.

Simply saying "because M rating" isn't enough.  How would it add to the story?  Why should resources go towards optional content that not everyone who even wants this optional content actually want?  When in fact, it may steer people away from it.

instead of showing mature content, would Bioware be better served by coming up with a mature storyline for the romances?

You are right.  N7Phantom said that.

But in fairness, my response was originally to him(her?)

They did with DA:I with sexual content and nudity so why not do the same with ME? If they want to put sex in romances they shouldn't be unrealistic like wearing underwear during sex or make a sex scene move too fast to get to the whole "I love you" part for the rest of the scene. Why not spice it up a bit? They can make sex scenes tasteful, sexy, and fun like Witcher did with their romance.

If ME has sex scenes then it better have bare skin.

Immersive nudity is what separates good sex scenes from bad ones, and intelligently implemented nudity is what makes scenes sexy like ME or Witcher instead of stupid and eye rolly like DAI.

ME3 is annoying because they nailed the heat, passion and intimacy. All it needed was bare skin and genitals flopping against each other and they would have been perfect honestly.

Interesting how you'll defend the writer's rights to tell the story they want to tell when it involves having nudity and sex, yet when a writer wants to tell the story they want to tell that doesn't involve those things you say they should have those things anyway and personally insult them for not doing so.

I have seen Witcher "romance" scenes.  I want no part of that.  Calling them "tasteful" is debatable at best.

And again, you conflate not having nudity with underwear sex.  Why do you insist it has to be one or the other?
