Forgive me if this is the wrong section im still new here

So ive noticed something strange. That vivenne looks like the jamaican singer grace jones not just the looks but personality as well

In terms of looks vivenne is pretty much like grace. Both of them like to wear unusual outfits. They also wear unusual *helmets*

Grace-Jones2.jpg

tumblr_nb2wem7Rwd1shmc8zo1_500.jpg

Also they're both been bald at least once in there life

In terms of personality:

Both are strong willed women
not afraid to act and show off (see the la vie en rose video of grace which i will post at the end of the thread)
Both seem mean (while they're not. As they're just saying whats on their mind)

After i looked at all of this i saw big simlarity between the 2. I think bioware was inspired of miss jones

Now enjoy vivenne/grace singing (she also has a similar voice)

Kind of. Except Grace is kind of feral and ferocious (imo). Vivienne is all about poise.

I must admit, this made me laugh. They do share a taste in unique headwear, heh.

Vivienne is most assuredly mean. When you meet her she is prepared to kill a man based on a situation that she arranged herself (as Cole reveals) solely in order to make an impression. That's cold. Literally.

You're probably right. I just have this wild image her from her music and from the Conan movie.

That's... really not mean at all. If anything, she was doing people a favor -- for the Inquisitor above all else.

I always thought, personality-wise, Vivienne was closer to Naomi Campbell ... as for fashion-sense, it IS Orlais

I wanted the opportunity to take that guy outside! But noooooooo, Vivienne dear had to show off in front of everyone. What a lame party.

Cole: Stepping into the parlor, hem of my gown snagged, no, adjust before I go in, must look perfect.

Vivienne: My dear, your pet is speaking again. Do silence it.
Cole: Voices inside. Marquis Alphonse.
Cole: "I do hope Duke Bastien puts out the lights before he touches her. But then, she must disappear in the dark."
Cole: Gown tight between my fingers, cold all over. Unacceptable. Wheels turn, strings pull.
Cole: He hurt you. You left a letter, let out a lie so he would do something foolish against the Inquisition. A trap.
Vivienne: Inquisitor, as your demon lacks manners, perhaps you could get Solas to train it.
The guy was only there because she invited him. Because of an (admittedly horrible) overheard racial insult she decided that his life was forfeit. She goaded him into attacking you by fooling him into thinking that the Inquisition had done something bad, and used him as part of a stage-managed show to impress you with her power.

Well, nobody other than you cares, anyway. Talk smack to people infinitely your better and that is what's gonna happen.

Not sure why you are harping on this. That guy was a colossal prig and he had it coming. Do you, like, see yourself in him or something?

Cole's remarks add so much to this scene! I've always attended the party right away instead of waiting until Cole joins. I've been trying out some new Inquisitors and really miss having Cole around for those first levels.

I've wondered what sort of hardships or challenges Vivienne faced in her life to cause her to be so condescending. We're led to believe it's because of the Grand Game, that it's just typical Orlesian behavior. But being a mistress and a prodigy must have formed some of her defensive superiority. She so infuriates me that I've never gotten very far in conversations with her.

I had a poster of Grace Jones on my wall when I was a teen, so the comparison makes me laugh.

I imagine her crying when she looks in the mirror. The condescension is just an act. /headcanon

He says it afterwards in a party banter. It's one of his "creepily getting into people's heads" bits...

Good points. I think it would be interesting to learn more of Vivienne's story. She being a prodigy and court enchanter, it must've been lonely until she fell in love with Duke Bastien.
