Yes body sliders, the default body is always crap.
Body sliders or preset body options?

I would love this. In my experience, though, BioWare doesn't do that level of customization. I think Knights of the Old Republic had a couple of body types per gender. I can't think of any other games that didn't have a body locked to a racial pre-set.
I believe the decision was probably made to use fixed body types from the outset, to save resources on animation down the line.

I'm cool with a few different options, as long as they do a better job than SWTOR. In that game you have four options, small, smaller, big and fat. With big being the only option that looks good.
If they use a similar system, I'd say keep one similar to Shepard, use a taller model as the next body set, taller, bigger, more muscles, menacing body type etc etc. And for a third one, smaller guy, but not the scrawny little wimp that you see if you pick body type 1 in SWTOR. Maybe a couple inches shorter than the default body type, something that would look more like a biotic type instead of a charge in soldier type.

The body types did not differ depending on gender, I believe, except for the last one which some complained about because it had the male version being overweight but the female version being just chubby. I also believe that in some cutscenes with certain animation it defaulted a character to a certain height like say, if they were about to kiss someone a character of a tall body type would shrink or the other character would be put on some invisible boxes.
Personally, I enjoyed the body types when they are present in games but I do not expect them to be present in most. If they are there, I see it as a bonus.
There is a humorous example with Darth Jadus, I believe, who is suppose to be taller than most so in cutscenes where he is on even ground with others as oppose to sitting or on a raised platform, they put some invisible boxes under his feet so he appears taller than his model actually is.

As long as its reasonable. I refuse to an overweight PC lumbering out of breath across a war zone. Fat Acceptance is one thing I will never abide by.
Dessert trolley in your private quarters?
Anyway, yes for body sliders! I loved being able to do it in Elder Scrolls online. Though my character ended up being kind of short compared to everyone else's. God damnn Giants everywhere, I tell ya!

I think KOTOR had only the one body type for each gender/race variation. Though Jade Empire had various body types among the NPCs.
Hey, look at that, one more conversation that loops around to 'give me a Jade Empire sequel!' I should be keeping track of these...

I would like being able to control height and muscle mass in theory, but it's not something I'm willing to sacrifice cut scenes for. The more aesthetic customization you have, the harder it is to animate, and I would prefer they not be forced to cut corners in that area again like they did in DAI.

As much as I would want this to be in the game, I doubt they will do it. Will take a lot of work.

I'm fine with body sliders not being a feature.
My issue with it is that it is purely cosmetic, and would require either extra work going into making sure armor designs work properly for all body types, and that there are no oddities in the cutscenes. It wouldn't be quite as simple as throwing in a body slider in the CC and then being done with it. That body slider is going to create a lot of other work across the rest of the game. What ends up cut to make room for it? The other option is to go the Dragon's Dogma route and not have cutscenes. Basically you'd have something like DA:I, except with a body slider in CC and less cinematic conversations.
I'm not sure I'm liking that trade off.
Also if the PC is military the options should be fairly limited anyway. If it is a military protagonist the options should range from thin and fit to muscilar and fit. Underweight and obese would be out.

I could see there being three presets.
Lithe
Average(for a soldier)
Muscular

I wouldn't mind if instead of having multiple models with varying masses they just have a slider to increase or decrease muscular definition on a set model?

I'm not too worried about it as long as they don't make the arms on the female characters look like long, gross twigs like they did on fem shep in ME3.

There's about an hour of cutscenes in Dragon's Dogma.
Whether they're any good or not from a cinematic standpoint is another matter.

If they do have body sliders, I'll choose the default one.
I can see tall, small, average. But I doubt we will see, skinny, muscular, fat.

Sliders would be nice. I think Elder Scrolls Online got character customisation pretty spot-on, and it would be awesome to have that level of it in the next Mass Effect, but I'll settle for better hair and make-up.

It's not a high priority for me, but Iguess I do like customisations, I always customise when possible.

I see the opposite more likely, given that a change of height would involve interacting with other NPCs having to be redone so all the hands go in the right places and the heads are angled correctly, no really sure to explain it ... I guess it is like in The Sims where everyone is the same height, but you can make people be shaped like Kate Moss' skinny little sister ranging to Jigglypuff was her spirit animal because they need to interact with each other and the world. I guess the main issue would be textures on the armours, but I guess that depends on how extreme such body changes would be.

While I would prefer some body morphing options, even something as simple as what Skyrim had, I understand the difficulty presented in implementing them in a game as cinematic as ME.
Instead of full body morphing, I'd be up for a selection of skins for variable amounts of muscle tone.

Personally, I think that's an excellent sales pitch for Dragon's Dogma.I'd recommend Dragon's Dogma. The CC is phenomenal.
Of course, Dragon's Dogma has very few cutscenes, none of which show the PC actually touching anything.

The thing I like about having body options is I can give my females normal body structures the only thing I didn't like in mass effect 3 was how big shepherds boobs got there was absolutely no need for it.
I think all that mass must have migrated over from her arms.
