There were certain people I kicked out of the normandy... ashley in ME1, because I didn't like her, plus kaidens biotics were far more useful. that other reporter person in the engineering level of normandy during ME3. I'd like these options to be expanded. The prothean javik seemed like a pretty cool concept, until I decided that he was whiny idiot. Samatha was okay, until it turned out she wanted to have sex with the whole crew of the normandy. I'd prefer these options exist early in the game if possible. didn't have much control over it in ME2, and though you could be rid of just about everyone we had to wait until the suicide mission.
more opportunities to be rid of players ship/player home would be welcome

You can choose to keep Grunt in his tank, and sell Legion to Cerberus. You can also kill Samara. Given that the entire point of ME2 was to assemble a crew filled with the best combat specialists in the galaxy to partake in a suicide-mission I'd say that its a good thing you couldn't kick out more characters, if only for narrative reasons.

Nothing important changed because of kicking characters out. You go to the same planets with the same objectives no matter how badly you messed up the ones that came before that. The problem started from the very beginning of the trilogy when it became clear the whole thing would lead to a show down between the reapers and the rest of the free species.

You can't kick Ashley out in ME1. Trust me, I tried. You can only let her die on Virmire.
Diana Allers is annoying but useful, she adds quite a lot of points to other war assets if you do the interviews right. I don't like her at all... but why would you allow her on board in the first place if you then want her gone again?
Javik is awesome. That is all.
Samantha? Eh... are you perhaps talking about Kelly Chambers from ME2? She's a very loving and openminded person. Doesn't mean she's promiscuous and even if she was, that's her business and not yours. Samantha is a lesbian with fairly high standards, she's not interested in anyone except a female Shepard. Maybe.
You can skip recruiting Wrex or Garrus, but you are forced to bring everyone else.
You know... before you make such a post, perhaps you should make sure you know what you're talking about?

I think he's mixing up Samantha Traynor with Kelly Chambers.
Even so, neither character expressed any interest in wanting "to have sex with the whole crew of the normandy".
Heck, of all the LIs in the Shepard Trilogy Kelly is the only one that doesn't have a sex scene, leaving it ambiguous whether she even slept with you.

First of all, don't misquote me. Secondly, don't you ****** dare to "quote" me with this disgustingly incorrect grammar.
You are wrong. That's a fact. Doesn't matter if I like your opinion or not.

I'm not sure bout getting rid of companions, but if I really dislike one for some reason, I don't want to be forced in conversations to be buddy-buddy with them, I want to be able to sort of keep my distance and perhaps even criticise them or their actions.
On the flip side, I would love it if my companions did the same to me.. and if I was a complete prat to them early on, or did something they really did not like- I want them to show their disapproval throughout the game. No more of this forced friendship stuff and unquestionable loyalty to me.

Ok, request granted.
You can recruit or deny every single squadmate at any point. Once recruited you can marry, bang or kill every single one at any time, even simultaneously as well as throwing them out the airlock, one by one or even in groups.
But there are finite resources/possibilities. So as a result, the plot will have to be reduced to you traveling in a straight line from A to B. When you get to B you win. There will also be no New Game +.

If you had the ability to kick out every members of your crew, it would've invalidated the entire plot of Mass Effect 2, as the final mission could've never taken its course. You wouldn't have enough specialists for a second fire team, no tech expert to open the doors of the Collector base, or Biotic master to protect your squad from the locust... basically the suicide mission wouldn't even be able to play out. There comes a point where giving the player so much freedom and power dilutes the narrative consistency of the story, since the writers would constantly have to do a check-list of the possible scenario where someone chose to utterly fail. Considering that ME2 already gives a fail-scenario where Shepard dies (a refusal choice was later added to Mass Effect 3 as well), I'd say Bioware goes above and beyond most games to give you a proper, dark ending, should you choose to take it.
Honestly, this kinda sounds like some of the people who were complaining about why they couldn't kill Loghain at Ostagar upon first meeting him when the PC would have no reason to at that point in the story. Shepard doesn't have a good reason to kick people off his ship left-and-right when they count among the best and most competent force in the galaxy.

You forgot to ask whether I lied in the marketing.
Attempting to kill or space Miranda results in Critical Mission Failure, followed by the deletion of your save. Also your hard drive melts.

While I don't much like the way the OP is phrasing the request, I am generally for the ability to kick any and all squadmates off the team at any time.
I don't know that I've ever actually made use of this function, but I like it's existence. Makes me feel better about characters I don't like when I feel they aren't being forced on me.
