I agree there should be an option to ask people to leave.  I remember in the build up to Inquisition, BioWare said something along the lines of possibly ending the game with only one person.  At first I thought they'd leave you throughout based on choices or whatnot, turned out, you have to not recruit them in the first place, quite lame.

We have the option to recruit individuals to our team, not really knowing who they are, and if we decide we don't like them, the option should be there to remove them from the team.  Or else we end up with a well thought out and planned anti alien Shepard being forced to keep Liara around, because reasons, with the only way to kill her off, comes from pretty much screwing up the game.

More choices is what we as RPG players should want in a game, and the ability to remove people from the team that you no longer want, should be one we're allowed to have.  Origins did, if not mistaken, every companion can leave the team or die, it might take cheesing the system with bad gifts but that's easy.

could you get alistar to leave? never tried

the only reason i might be against this is if its part of another trilogy it will make it difficult to keep things fluid. that said not totally against the idea and for it if they go the dragon age route

I am actually not sure if Alistair can leave due to poor approval before the Landsmeet.  But he can there though.  Many options for Alistair arise in that quest.

And I can agree with the trilogy reason, assuming that BioWare will have a rough idea of what the second and third game will actually be about before hand and not whip up something at the last minute again.

But even then, if I'm playing through the game, and there is a a companion, who disagrees with everything I do, and I find nothing redeemable about him/her, I sure as hell won't want to drag them through three games let alone one.

It's entirely possible to write an excellent story that doesn't rely on companions.

I read: "get rid of players ship/ players home".

All I thought was: But why? I want a ship, and certainly want to keep my home if I have one.

Now I understand what OP ment by I am still: But why?

You have to make do with the crew you're being assigned.

lol I was the same.

I was like 'but surely having a ship is one of the points of ME'

Never really understood why players want the option to kill or otherwise get rid of their companions, the game world would be a much less interesting place without them.

As much as I hated how Shepard flirted with Jacob every time she spoke to him, I liked having him around cos it was fun to hate on him.

But each to his/her own I suppose.

He probably meant Kelly. That's how scale itch got on the Normandy.

No, it's not.

Really? Than who? We can eliminate Zaeed, Kasumi, Tali, Grunt, Samara, Morinth and Thane because you still get the line if you don't recruit them (or open Grunt's tank). Who else is most likely, Gardner?

For the record, my money's actually on Joker, given he wants to bang a robot in the next game, so probably isn't against other such deviancy.

Typical antiquarian propaganda and blame shifting. Mordin still says the line even if you don't recruit her as mentioned. Who then?

Mordin himself probably.

Highly unlikely. Mordin won't even offer himself to Shepard's STDs. I know, I've tried.

It's probably Joker, maybe Kelly, and just maybe Jacob because he likes "heavy risk" to accompany his priizzee, and  violating a sabertooth space dog carries plenty of that.

Oh no, I didn't mean like having sex with it. More ... running experiments on it.

He specifically said it was an STD and then "implications unpleasant" which seems to preclude innocuous science experiments.

Well, Gardner does say he only washes his hands "most of the time".

But Kelly can be ruled out due to one piece of evidence: her romance with Shepard.

If they sleep together, Shepard doesn't get it so clearly she isn't spreading it.

If they don't sleep together, then she isn't spreading it because she's not even sleeping with Shepard whom she loves.

We should definitely be able to remove team members. I couldn't stand Ashley, and hated that ahe was on my ship.

And if it breaks the story, we just have to add failure conditions. We should not, however, protect the players from themselves.

You know, honestly, if we're really dissecting the scale itch throw away joke, here's the thing that never made sense to me.

If only varren carry it, then - even assuming one of the crew got a little friendlier with a varren than basic decency and common sense would advise - shouldn't the disease just not transfer?

And if it can transfer from varren to other species, then surely it has before now, right? So in that case it can be explained by a situation where someone on the Normandy had sex with someone who had sex with someone who had sex with a varren, give or take a few links in the chain, instead of actually having sex with a varren.

Unless they're suggesting that this is the first time the disease has been seen outside of varren, to which I call bullsh*t.

To be honest, I always saw it as scale itch having evolved or tampered with to be transmittable in other ways, which could lead to unpleasant implications like someone is trying to turn it into a bioweapon that affects other species.

Funny how people are always wanting more options that will let them be a jerk.

You're making the mistake of thinking about it too hard. This is Mass Effect, the science needn't make any sense. Juvenile varren bestiality jokes take precedence over microbiology and interspecific transmission of zoonoses.

In the real world, I would of already thrown Miranda and Ashley off my ship (or out the airlock.., or left them on a planet, etc, etc).

Whinging, whining all the time, it's like being married.

The ability to throw off who ever you like, or have sex with who ever you like..., with the consequences for your actions impacting on the game..., sometimes you get away with it...., sometimes you don't. Hard to implement, but it would be cool.

Cheers
