I've been pondering many things about dragon age lately mainly concerning my own warden when something occurred to me. Can wardens sense other wardens?  I had always thought so but I think the idea came from certain fanfictions I've read. So if its not true why not?

Wardens sense darkspawn.

Darkspawn sense wardens.

Darkspawn sense other darkspawn. (I Think...)

So they should be able to right?

But then why would warden blood keep darkspawn from being sensed in Awakening?

....it makes my head hurt a bit honestly....

How the hell the wardens supposed to sense each other , they drink the blood of the darkspawn not wardens blood.

Maybe if they take a sip of blood from the warden who deliver the striking blow against Dumat , but again that was in 203 ancient i doubt they still have some of his blood.

Yes but they both have the taint. They sense the darkspawn taint correct?

They probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a darkspawn and a fellow grey warden , in Awakening a darkspawn says , that grey wardens feel similar to the darkspawn, but somehow different.

If am not mistaken Andres too thought he sensed fellow grey wardens in the deep roads a moment before he got attacked by darkspawns.

Perhaps more experienced wardens like HOF and Garahel can sense other wardens more accurately.

AHHH! I completely forgot about Andres trying to track the wardens!! Ok so wardens sensing wardens is canon! :D

....at least in DA2, there is the whole deal with none of the Wardens calling Blackwalls bluff, but we can say it depends on the person and that they where dealing with the Calling... :P

Ok, so that leaves the question of how the darkspawns awakening keeps them from being sensed....

If i remember correctly, if you make Alistair king and you bring Anders to met him in DA2, they say something like "aren't you a warden?".

Origins flat out confirms Wardens can sense other Wardens, as according to the Codex, during the First Blight, that was how they knew how the Ultimate Sacrifice works, and that it managed to kill Dumat.  Basically, every time Dumat revived, the Wardens knew, as they could still sense him, but when a Warden finally killed Dumat for good, neither Dumat nor the Warden could be sensed after the death blow.

Some Wardens have been shown to be able to sense each other, though the only example I can think of at the moment is Kell ap Morgan in the novel The Calling.
