Who else tints their armor based on their specialization (or planned one)?

In my hopeless quest to tint armors, I "unlocked" various tint materials in my quest to tint armors to Herald/Inquisition style rather than specialization based.

Then I got irritated that I could never get it right and harnessed my retexturing skills to make a custom texture for the preorder dragon armor.  It was all militant chantry robe combined with the arcane warrior/ancient elven armor look, which was designed around my Dalish Knight Enchanter Inquisitor who believes in the Maker.  I abandoned it after mods stopped working and never reinstalled it.

Mostly because JoH came out and Ameridan's armor was sort of along the same lines as my custom dragon armor texture, but less detailed/ornamented, with a huge/cool Inquisition insignia and pouldrons that hide the slouching shoulder issue in cutscenes.

More importantly, it was usable by Companions.

So I used Templar Cotton (not available legitly), Dragonbone, and Greatbear Hide tints for my Inquisitor's armor to mimic Ameridan's default, while I used Everknit Wool, Canine Leather and Obsidian tints for my companions' Ameridan armor.

I guess in the end, I used tints and armor that paid homage to both my specialization and Ameridan who kind of seemed like a Knight-Enchanter himself (at least a warrior mage/Arcance warrior).  Not to mention he mirrored my Dalish Inquisitor's religious duality between Elven Gods and Andraste/Maker.

My companions all looked like Inquisition generals as I had always planned. :)

I Star Trek'd the dragon hunter armors. Everyone gets one. Gold metal, color shirts with black legs and black leather. Quizzy and Cass in command gold. Sera, Blackwall, Varric and Bull are redshirts. Solas, Dorian and Viv are science blue.

Did the same with the Formal Wear too. XD

This is hilarious. Love the red shirt thing.

I'm very drab and boring, and I choose darkened saminite, great bear leather, and obsidian for my slots >.<

My Quiz was a KE with the long trench coat (the armor schematic one rather than the mail or coat) the cool chain mail-ish arms, metal boots, and the helm of the quiz, all darkened. Just looks really damn cool to me. Stats weren't completely ideal, but I tended to steam roll everything on NM late game except JoH, so it didn't matter much.

I was kinda disappointed to find no tier 4 version of it. It seems JoH only has the sturdy mail and coat schematics

I personally give my characters 1 colour that fits them or that I just assign them (usually applied to the cloth) and the rest of the armor is either dependant on their character (my evil mage got the colour blue and the other tints are black (cause she's evil) and white (cause pure white is difficult/expensive to get)) or what fits better (my qunari mage got the colour orange, which I combined with gold metal and white leather)

But now that I've read about the idea of assigning colours by specialization it's something I definitely want to try! :o

If anyone was wondering why Cole didn't get a Star Trek'd color, it's because he never comes along unless plot required... I pretend my Quizzy forgets about him immediately after talking to him.

It's essentially chantry robe red and used to tint Templar armor on NPCs I'm betting.  It's not available in the game and is just labeled "cotton" like Warden cotton (which is the tint for warden armor blue).  You have to "mod" it into your game.

About half of the tinting options look terrible to me, so I avoid using them. I like the bear and druffalo leathers best. I like the Infused Vyrantium Samite, Highever Weave and Plush Fustian Velvet cloths, and any of the more gold or silver metals; plus bloodstone.

To add to Balek's post: There are three cloths that are officially unavailable for the player's use.
DA3/Equipment/Crafting/Materials/Cloth/recipe_material_Cotton_Templar (red)
DA3/Equipment/Crafting/Materials/Cloth/recipe_material_Cotton_Warden (blue)
DA3/Equipment/Crafting/Materials/Cloth/recipe_material_Yellow_Lambswool (yellow lambswool)

If you are on PC you can get these via the use of Cheat Engine.

I get the sturdy versions early and hold onto them for as long as possible as they hide the beige pjs. There's nothing wrong with the metal chestplate but it looks a little squished on a female elf which is what I mostly play.

Early game I usually give my character similar colours to Leliana and Cassandra so it's phoenix scales on the coat and samite on the arms, the metal is iron or onyx.

Later on when I've finally got an elf schematic (and lots of snoufleur skin) I go for something that says yes she's an elf but one with money. The tabard is silk , the scarf silk brocade, the metal silverite.

I love tinting Sera's armour with dragonling scales and plaidweave, it's really just a smartened up, armoured version of her casual outfit.
