Do you have to be a particular class or race for this to work?

When I had my rogue Lavellan wear it the wolves were friendly and I had a whole pack of them follow me around.  The only time it didn't work was if I killed a wolf in the area I was in (through forgetting to put the token on so it attacked me).

Latest play through I have a human mage but it doesn't seem to work and every area that has wolves they still attack me even though I'm wearing it.

Class/Race doesn't matter. The thing is very buggy and won't always work immediately when you travel to areas with wolves. I find I have to unequip and then re-equip it when I travel to a zone with wolves. Even that doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to kill a pack of wolves before it works.

Through 5 different play-throughs I've never had it actually work, I just put it on one of the companions I will never use and forget it.

It's supposed to make wolves friendly? Multiple characters in, and I am only just learning this. I took one look at its stats and sold it without a second thought up until now. But it's glitched anyway?

I didn't realise at first but then I read that is what it is meant to do.  I guess I must just have been lucky with that particular character.  Mind you it did seem appropriate considering in the past the elven warriors and hunters used to have a wolf companion that went everywhere with them.    That's why I wondered if it was race specific.   Obviously not.  Thanks anyway.

It had only worked once for me in one playthrough. It was in Crestwood. A wolf followed me around and it took me awhile to figure out why. I had the token on Sera I think.

Wow I didn't know about this. I hate killing wolves so I will equip this in the future

I had it on with my elf and it didn't appear to work properly. Wolf packs still attacked me, but I saw a couple of wolves not attacking but also looking like they were bugged out and wouldn't follow me. They also appeared to suddenly snap out of it and attack me after a bit. So, yeah, buggy.

I had no idea that the Token of the Packmaster did that. I will have to see if it works for me in one of my playthroughs.

I have a single playthrough where wearing the token had the wolves accompany me for a while, but just once out of several completed playthroughs. That is one buggy item!

Also has anyone else had the bug where after Doom Upon All the World, in the celebration scene Varric's dialogue won't trigger?  Everyone else in the hall can be interacted with, but approaching Varric gets me nothing??

I don't think I've ever had that thing work.

You have got to be kidding me.

If it does work as intended, does it only work on legitimate wolves or all same-sized canines, such as mabari & hyenas?

I have never been able to see it works.

I always sold it in all of my playtroughs.

I had this happen recently actually. I was eventually able to talk to him, I just had jump around him like an idiot for a few minutes before I had the option to click him.

As for token of the packmaster, across 5 playthroughs I have yet to have it work for me.

Just wolves.

I always put it on Solas.  It usually works (hee).

On my main character, it's more hit or miss, but I did once have five wolfy friends, like the picture up there.  Never had more then that around, though others wouldn't attack.

Aha! This explains why the wolves were running around with me in Crestwood. I thought it was just a happy glitch, because I hate killing wolves.

and wolves helping The Iron Bull - didn't mean to get into it with these druffalo, but there were human bandits that started the whole thing and then quickly died:

Although I enjoy the novelty of "running with the pack," I find the wolves to be not the greatest helpers. First off, they attack EVERYTHING, including nearby druffalo. Secondly, their constant growling can be kind of unnerving. One of my biggest scares in DAI was turning around in the Astrarium cave and running smack into a pair of wolves standing there, snarling at nothing in particular.

This seems to be the trick.  I found random success when equiping on my Inquisitor.  However coming across this and tried it on solas.  Immediately, in the same gaming session, the wolves were friendly when a few minutes ago they had been attacking me.  I shall continue to see if this works across traveling to different areas.

On a second note I also seem to have noticed something.  Listen for the wolf's song... if you hear it I think that means they won't attack you... you'll know what I mean in those areas ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the item description says absolutely nothing about being able to do this. I despise killing useless filler fodder like wolves, they're no threat but enough of an inconvenience to force you to fight them, or to disengage and get out of their proc radius.

No, it did not. It's just a fun easter egg.

 Same here lol XD

I assume it never worked for me either cause I do keep it equipped since it's one of the few amulets you find at the beginning of the game... LOL

I think Solas may need to be in the party for it to work.  In all the times I've had it happen, Solas was in the party, though not necessarily wearing the pendant.

Packs of wolves just keep showing and harassing me with Solas in the party.
