What prequel could Bioware release that would inspire you to make the jump?

Edit:  Here's what I was thinking: A prequel could be more like a 1-time assignment that takes place inside Andromeda, but not a teaser of a chopped down actual assignment found in the Andromeda game. It would be a stand-alone assignment that provides a save file that we can use to import some objects or resources into Andromeda when it is officially released. Yes, a teaser game to be sure, but one that creates a save file as a bonus.

Something like this:

A prequel I'm suggesting would not show us how we get there or why. Instead, it would be an example of what it's like to be on a planet in Andromeda. As such, I was wondering if you have ideas on what you might like to see as a more interesting 1-time mini-game/assignment.

One Halo prequel comes to mind: Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn.

In October, 2012, 343 Industries released Halo 4's prequel mini-series ‘Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.’ It was a 5-part, 15 minutes each, set of streaming video episodes. Wikipedia notes that nearly 500 shots had computer generated imagery. It was produced as a marketing effort to widen the audience of the Halo series. How interesting, as if the on-going tale of Master Chief and Cortana wasn’t reason enough. FUD received a Streamy Award, the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award, and awards for editing, producing, and filming. Note too that ‘Forward Unto Dawn’ was the PREQUEL to H4, the first installment in Halo’s 2nd TRILOGY, and it didn't reveal anything about the Halo 4 game. It was just a good story set in the Halo Universe.

Can Bioware do better than 343 prior to Andromeda’s release? I really hope so.

Unlike Master Chief’s continuing adventures as motivation enough to purchase H4, our Shepard won’t be blazing a trail for us. At this point, I’m feeling a bit less motivated about making the jump without my Shepard at the helm. I would like to see something significant that would to engage our hearts and minds into being more excited to be in our spiral galaxy’s doppleganger.

I was wondering if others have suggestions that might induce Bioware to release a better mini-game as a prelude to the official release. The H4: FUD video was a really nice way to generate some buzz and pushed the boundaries of what a 'prequel' can do.

One idea I've had is that It could show three generic stranded Alliance troopers on a planet facing three combat and survival situations, such as: 1) The troopers have to defend themselves for their limited fuel and water supplies at their temporary survival shelter; 2) Raid an alien weapons / fuel depot cache while under fire; and 3) We could fight on foot against anything, so we can get our hands on critical food, water, and resources until an Alliance rescue ship arrives. If our troopers run out of food and water within a time limit, our troopers die. It would be a foray on planet we could explore a little bit. Perhaps the squadmates could chat with anecdotes of our new primary character. Let the soldiers use ATVs, discovered inside a garage at their encampment, so we can get around our region of the planet and see an amazing sample of an Andromeda planet. It could generate a save file that we can import into Andromeda with some collected resources as a bonus, maybe discover an alien object that our strandeed explorers could bring aboard the new star ship. The troopers would not be part of the game; they'd just give us a preview of what a planet in Andromeda looks and feels like.

So I'm just wondering if there Is anything you would like to see released before Andromeda is ready.

Hard to throw ideas out there without really knowing what the prologue of this game entails. It could really be about anything.

If I really had to conjure up an idea for a story preceding this though, it'd be about a small band of explorers, but it'd be a much shorter tale since there would be no big plot in and of itself, since it's just a prelude to whatever the big game involves. It'd just be that team against the perils of flying through dark space, and while they pave the way for the rest to follow, they might all just die in the end, either through some final calamity or just the passage of time.

I would love to have a game that has the Milky Way repairing itself after the Reaper War.

As long as I can't see for myself how they handle the transition to another galaxy in the sequel itself, I don't need a prequel to the coming sequel.

The ending sliders expressed the species' hopes for a new beginning well enough.

BioWare will probably release a book/graphic novel about the events leading up to Andromeda (kinda like what they did with the back story on Anderson/Saren in the first novel).

If they don't, I wouldn't be upset.

What I'm suggesting is a pre-release ASSIGNMENT that would get our toes wet on a planet in the Andromeda galaxy. Just something more engaging than a prelease mini-game that's just a limited chopped down version of an in-game skirmish.

The M3 pre-release mini-game is an excellent example of what I'm talking about, except I'd llike the assignment to also allow for recovering resources and objects that we could import into M4: Andromeda. Perhaps those folks who have an M3 save file could get a new weapon ot upgrade too.

So no, I don't want a pre-release assignment to explain the aftermath of ME3, and it should not explain how and why we're being dumped inside a distant galaxy.

Here's an example of what I've had on my mind:

The assignment shows three generic Alliance troopers who are stranded on an Andromeda planet. They have to deal with three combat and survival situations, such as: 1) The troopers have to defend themselves and their limited fuel and water supplies at their temporary survival shelter; 2) Raid an alien weapons / fuel depot cache while under fire; and 3) We could fight on foot against another Thresher Maw-type sand monster, so we can get our hands on critical food, water, and resources for survival until an Alliance rescue ship arrives. If they run out of food and water within a time limit, our troopers die, and fade to black. The squadmates could chat around their campfire discussing anecdotes of our new protagonist (build the suspense!). Let the soldiers use ATVs so we can get around our region of the planet and get a nice glimpse of a new planet and some CGI video artwork. The soldiers could operate a radio transmitter calling for assistance, and our player's conversation with a rescue vessel could use an interactive dialog wheel. If the troopers survive their ordeal, we'd then hear and see an Alliance rescue ship landing near their location to pick them up, and they would carry with them some resources to take back to the new Alliance Ship - which we can then import into the full Andromeda game. If a player has an ME3 save file, then they would get an extra bonus - a new weapon. Rinse and repeat.
