Now you're confusing me, there is an option on xbox to mute a player, doing this means he cannot hear you and you cannot hear him. If you block a player on xbox which was the case here that player is Automatically muted. Does that make it clearer? I must be working off the basis that PC is the same which is likely not the case.

If mute button works in that way on xbox it is probably the weirdest mute button I've seen in my entire life.
I'm PC player, I haven't "tested" it but it was clear for me that muting someone mean ONLY that I can't hear him/her. Why on earth it should block also me for him/her?

Mute button works in that way in everything starting from stupid skype ending on every teamspeak like software I've seen (mumble, teamspeak, raidcall, etc).
So maybe block feature on xbox works in that way (PC don't have it) but if mute works in that way it sucks and should be fixed asap.

Blocking is also the only way I know of to get yourself off of randies friends list, it's a really backwards system.

If someone sends you a "follow", you are automatically on their friends list but they aren't on yours unless you add them back. They are on your followers list, but not friends, so luckily you have some way to keep track of the randoms adding you.

It can make for some annoying situations when random followers start spamming game invites or joining your games and/or parties and telling peeps that they are your friend.

They were in a party mate...notice the mute over medallians name indicating he's been blocked.

A "party" on the Xbox is essentially a chat room, think Ventrilo. When you are in a "Party" only people in the party can be heard/communicated with. "Party" chat is used as a substitute for game chat. It's convenient when dealing with disconnects. Also polite when partaking in conversations you'd rather not share with a PUG you don't know who may be filling a slot in-game.

Everyone except Mr. Numero Uno was in a party so we weren't able to communicate with Mr. Numero Uno.

The mute/block debate really doesn't matter for this situation. I'm not really sure how muting/blocking works. I assumed muting someone just made it so I didn't have to hear their Kinnect. Never really thought about whether they could still hear me. Havn't had to block anyone yet either, so no experience on that front.
