Some of my friends say the game only need to load for about 5~15secs in the loading scenes.
But for me it always takes more than 1 min to load and sometimes even 3~5 mins if the scenary is a larger one. (1 min for the Commander's room in Normandy and 2~3 mins for the CIC)
My friends have simialr rigs as mine.
My rig:
E7200
EAH 4850
RAM: ddr2 800 2Gx2
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I have two HDD, the OS and the games are installed on different HDD.

Try setting the program to only use one processor core. Task Manager, right click ME2 > Set Affinity. You can do this while the game is running.

Interseting, it sounds like the same issue some folks have with Dragon Age.

The game looks to be using all 4 cores to me. Or at least two cores at a time and then bouncing them around. I don't think that Affinity trick is needed.

My load times have been hardly long enough to read the Tip on the bottom of the screen.

The question is:

When experiencing long load times in ME2. If you exit and then try a different game does that game also have long load times? If so then something is with your system not ME2. If not, then ME2.

I also assume that Windows Performance index reports a 5+ for your hard drive score.

My game used all cores too, but it still lagged like hell. I set it to use one and load times were fixed. You can even set it back to two (after setting it to one first) and load times are fixed. Something to do with the old UT3 engine.

I've played DAO and the loading time is normal (around 5~15 secs for most scenes). So I think it should be a problem with ME2 instead of the system.

I've tried and your solution seems to work for me.
However, is there a way to solve the problem permanently?
