I'm a bit confused to be honest. Not sure if the re-release in 09 is running on the Xbox emulator or running in native 360 code. The latter means we might get to see this gem on the Xbox One, right?

I'm not aware of any release of Jade Empire that was native to the 360.  There are no Jade Empire achievements, for example.

 

That said: I'm not sure they've ruled out original Xbox backwards compatibility at some point.  It should actually be somewhat less work for them, since both the original Xbox and the XB1 used x86-family CPUs.  You'd have to emulate the hardware (as you had to do on the 360), but you could execute the old native code directly instead of under emulation.

Not likely, I think. I doubt they're looking to make backwards compatibility for previous generations beyond the 360/PS3 era any kind of a priority, and I don't think that Jade Empire ever got released in a 360 format, just that the 360 was capable of playing it.

I would love for a remastered game for XB1 or a Jade Empire 2. That game was amazing!

Although,  this post should not be taken as confirmation, it is neither confirmed or denied that XB1 will be compatible with Xbox games.
