                                                                    <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

From this quote "..taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy.."  and the N7 emblem tells me that the crew of the Normandy SR-7 are the descendants from Alliance Military personnel special forces that received the N7 emblem..

Summary of N7 : http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/N7

Story wise, the colony navy in the Helius Cluster continues with the tradition of christening their military vessels  from historical records of famous events / people. Thus the Normandy SR-7 is the ship that our PC will command.   The number 7 just means it's the seventh ship bearing the name Normandy.

Why SR-7, you ask? Well, from the quote ".. long after..", tells me that enough time passed to allow for a few ships to be designed and built as successors with the proud name of Normandy

Now the trailer also shows us an armoured individual with the N7 emblem. To me it means that the colony's military have a premier combat academy that keeps the Alliance ICT training and traditions.

Thought anyone?

Joker married a robot=no kids

FemShep dies in most endings=unlikely to be able to have a child with anyone other than Liara

MaleShep= Miranda is implied to be infertile, who knows with Jack, Tali is an incompatible alien, Ash has a 50/50 shot of being dead thus leaving Liara as the only one with no major restrictions.

EDI=could still be around (possible returning character?)

Kaidan/Ashley= 50% chance of death

Javik= Last of his kind

Garrus=possible if he did not romance Shep and never actually ends up with Tali

Tali= either romances Garrus or Shep, neither are compatible

Vega= if he ends up with a human then maybe also there is the Asari from the movie.

Conclusion: most likely not the biological descendants.

Liara can be killed on the beam run. Both Miranda and Jack can be dead in ME3

EDI=could still be around (possible returning character?)

Nope. I always pick destroy

Kaidan/Ashley= 50% chance of death

Why 50%? Depending on the person's playthrough, that character could always be dead and the other one always be killed in ME3

Javik= Last of his kind

Doesn't have to be recruited

Vega= if he ends up with a human then maybe also there is the Asari from the movie.

Garrus can be dead in ME3. Tali doesn't have to be recruited in ME2 or dead in ME3

Conclusion: If a character can die in the trilogy, there will be no descendent

Not if Destroy happened.

Surrogacy is an option in the latter case.

I really think the only reason they felt the need to put the N7 in there was to make it clear that "hey folks, this is the new Mass Effect game!" - as though anyone watching the trailer didn't realize that from the word go.

There might be descendants of crew members and such in ME:A, but I would also doubt it as well.

Leak spoilers about our ship in Andromeda:

Spoiler

N7 originally refered to to a particular Alliance special forces program, but during the definition expanded to include non-human commandos fighting the Reapers (which is the story reason for why you could play as a batarian or a turian etc in ME3 multiplayer). It wouldn't be unexpected to expand the definition of what N7 means again.

Devs have said in interviews and at panels that the PC will not be a soldier like Shepard, but will instead be an explorer.

I can't be bothered to search for the video, but a while back when they showed the first pieces of concept art from MEA, it included the PC's armor, complete with the N7 logo, and one of the devs on the panel said something about them being an N7.

I don't want another Normandy. I love that ship, but I want something new. With infinite possibilities why would you want to keep going back to the same thing?

As for EDI being destroyed - not necessarily. The way I see it, only the Reaper upgrades installed in EDI and the geth would have been destroyed, rendering them non-functional but repairable. I also think that The Catalyst survived. It only ever mentions that the Reapers will be controlled/destroyed, not itself. It could also explain the breather scene - when the Crucible fired, the Catalyst could have put some kind of barrier/force field around itself to shield itself from the blast, and Shepard got caught up in this. The reason Shepard dies with a low EMS is because he/she took more damage on the way on to the Citadel and actually died as a result of previous injuries, not the explosion.

Nah, geth are dead and gone no matter what if you pick destroy. Ending slides for Rannoch either have only quarians or a desolate landscape depending on if you recruited both or not.

That's not to say that they couldn't be rebuilt almost exactly the same as they were before the Reaper code nonsense. On the other hand, EDI's individual "personality" is based on Reaper code and it's experiences with the Normandy crew, and presumably you can't get it back, though you can build another similar AI using exactly the same software and hardware.

They've already claimed they aren't canonizing any ending choices, so it's a bit of a moot point anyway when you consider just about every single character can die in some permutation.

Enough of Normandy, Normandies are for Shepard.

Not really, these arts were mostly for showing new ME style. Also most recent concepts of PC don't have any N7 signs. Also when they show guy with only remarkable feature of being N7 and then say that's not the PC, it may be a hint as well.

I Think that N7 guy will be the players Mentor, our Nhilus, who will die and then we have to fill his shoes... so to speak.

Bioware tends to bo back to the same story and recycle.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong, Sartoz. I like shodiswe's idea though. I was also thinking he could be another character doing the same thing you are doing on another ship.
