True and false depending on PoV.

 

Before Erdoğan while it looked "modern" at outside we again had problems.

 

Students were being beaten jailed for asking "free education", small scale civil war in our south eastern part(Some call it Kurdistan some don't, i want to be politically correct), politicians looking to mouth of generals not to lose their power, unidenfied murders here and there, mafias being protected by goverment because they were "rightist".

 

Can't say facism but it was "State above all".

 

Now is better? Heck no I can agree that it is worse but that's kinda subjective.

 

Turkish authorities have other reasons to disperse large gatherings of people besides homophobia. Pride parades have been co-opted by the Gezi protest movement which provoked a lot harsher crackdowns than water cannons.

 

True. 

 

Gezi protests were best days in my life. Like we managed to do some "disturbance" to those who think they were too powerful and beyond laws. In due time it'll be written as a turning point. Well hopefully.
