How differently do you play between difficulties?

Is it necessary to respec when you switch?

Dumb as it may sound, I find that I don’t spec

full points into Dark Channel when playing Plat.  It

forces me to reconsider how to spec and play.  My

belly instincts lead me often to get knocked on the

button, so I have to reevaluate my normal play to

bigger tactics and more defensive play. Is it more fun

than Gold?  Sometimes.  I do believe one finds fun in

his greatest challenges once overcome, but the boss

unit spam can get tiresome.  I find it difficult to choose,

when I play Plat, to use some kits because the time

it takes to take down bosses is so slow because health

is boosted so much for enemies in Plat.  The Fury is

an absolute favorite of mine, but I feel I get dropped

in no time at all, even when just taking a bullet to the

knee without sufficient Fitness.  (I use 0 fitness for Gold)

Perplexing.  So, I was just wondering how y’all felt/deal.

I'm... Puzzled. Why would you spec into DC? I mean...

What is the reason for that on platinum?

Slow evo is good. Fire and forget Barrier/Armor damage is good. Jumping from target to target for multi-BE's is good.

And DC has a White House  :P

Haven't read OP, but title seems sufficient enough to comply a reply. So;

No. Fury is always OP enough to handle anything. So just L2P instead of respecing her.

Not too crazy for slow evo on DC anymore. Recharge is more important. Especially on Fury so you can get back to AF>Throw combos already.

How is DC not situationally good?

Easily, it one cast kills a Phamtom,

you know.  Perhaps I should just

forget spec'ing into DC at all?

I do not spam DC. I use it to slow that Atlas to a crawl. Or make that Brute slower than DSL.

My guess is that you've never used DC.  It

farts away the competition and leaves the

smell of decomposing Phantoms!  One of the

better powers, imo.  I actually feel it's better

than a lot of other DOT of powers.  Anyway,

your interest in this is appreciated, keep the

posts coming.  They're so bad they're good.

Your assumption is that I don't know how to play.  I've outscored you, but

mums the word on that.  You even tried to use OP characters to try and

snatch the top of the scoreboard.

Is this something you are going to ignore, or pretend to forget?  I think

the reason you're so hard up to ruin my posts is probably due to this and

only this fact.

One or two games may not be sufficient evidence of greater skill, but

you'll be hard-pressed to talk smack after a beating like that.  If you

ever want a rematch, I'm up for it.  Otherwise, I'd appreciate it if you not

touch anymore of my threads if you're not going to add anything that is

in the tiniest bit constructive.  If you'd like, I will afford you the same courtesy for

your threads.  Or maybe I'll start using the ignore function and get on with my

life.

DC is also an automatic stagger on most enemies when it jumps. That gives it extra lovin' points from me.

I don't respec any of my characters for one difficulty or another. I only do it when I'm bored and see some weird ass setup here that I want to try.

I don't play much Platinum, but I don't know why you would skip DC.  The damage is decent, and the slow evo is good.  And most importantly, it primes enemies for Warp Ammo damage bonus at all ranges.  Does Dark Channel matter on White or Glacier? Probably not.  You'll most likely want it if you're playing a Fury and end up on Hydra, Condor, Vancouver, etc.

I respec all the time. I can never. NEVER. Get enough of them respec cards. Always a new hipster build idea pops in my Sinful head to try out and share with BSN. Then after I post said build, it becomes obsolete for a better one. Ce la ME3mp vie.

The other thing about build is that you never know how it'll work out until you try one out for a match or few. Enough times I end up with "What was I thinking builds?" Missing some vital piece of the puzzle until take out the kit for a spin. Usually feel like bailing on a match when it's that bad, but... I just deal with it. Because. I'm Sinful, I've got a reputation to uphold. ... Except when rubber banding. Then you've clearly hurt my epeen. So watch out pugs. Them Doritos crunch very loudly into the mic.

But yeah, who needs randomizer when my own warped mind is the ultimate randomizer.

Um, because your too busy detonating combos every second, maybe? Plus the extra tankyness & power/force in passives don't hurt either for more in your face female courage action. I love my Fury. And I never noticed it until I skipped DC and stopped playing the weapon for a change.

Sure it hurts epeen score a bit, since DC roles that way (ie. playing Hunress with DC is like epeen on easy mode). But she's still a top scores either way. And without DC getting in the way, you truely learn how to Fury. At least that's when I truly learned how to unleash her.

I totally respect my characters I play in higher difficulties - they are the ones who are in top shape and ready for any challenge. I'd even say that I have a strong affection for the Asari and Krogan ones.

Conventional wisdom would have it that more fitness is required at higher difficulties to compensate for increased enemy damage, but the reality is that unless you can get your shields above a certain value (approx. 1000), many things will take you down to shield gate in a single shot (banshee warps, prime shots, rocket trooper, etc), thus negating much of the benefit of increased shields that do not reach this threshold value for certain attacks.

On the other hand, is important to understand is that the delay before your shields start regenerating is longer in platinum (approx. 4 secs as opposed to 3.5 in gold), hence increasing the relative value of taking the rank 5 fitness shield recharge evo.  So generally, on classes that have three viable powers (such as the Fury), I'll run a 6/6/6/5/3 on gold and below, but use a 6/6/6/3/5 on plat.  The tradeoff here is typically something to the tune of 20-30% power damage, depending on the class specific passive, but remember that these passive damage bonuses are additive, only affecting your base power damage.  Moreover, this penalty is completely negated by use of a power amp on either your smg or pistol.

Another consideration is whether or not the class has a means of regenerating health/shields.  On regenerative classes, the scale leans more towards the original 6/6/6/5/3, but ultimately you have determine how useful the particular method of regeneration actually is.  I find for the Fury, that the Annihilation Field (AF) drain evolution reliably restores shields when I'm hosting, but not so much off host, and there are some situations when there are no enemies safely reachable for her to shield drain (particularly on larger maps), so I tend to favor 6/6/6/3/5 with her.

Also, not taking the final pierce evolution in dark channel is typically a mistake.  The extra damage to armor and barriers is multiplicative, and hence applies to your top end power damage number after all additive bonuses have been accumulated.  With this last evolution, DC can be used as fire and forget, and has a good chance of taking down most barrier/armor units in a single cast.

Just 2 cents from a fellow Krogan...
